The opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics took place on the Seine River in Paris on July 26, 2024. Some 10,500 athletes were carried by 100 boats, sailing from the upper to the lower bank of the scenic river. It was the first time the Olympics opening ceremony was held outside a stadium and featured performances that highlighted classic and modern French culture. Celebrities Lady Gaga and Celine Dion also performed at the event.

it's not only double standards, it's Olympics plays politics while claiming it's above politics. it's hypocracy.
considering it's just a western brand pushed by the west, like Coca-Cola but with an even shorter history, it's not surprising but typical.
time to abolish it and start a true international sport event. same as UN, IMF, world bank, etc.

I think Guangzhou pioneered the staging of the opening ceremony along a river in the 2010 Asian Games. I am sure Paris emulated some of what we did 14 years ago.

the french approach to the Olympics is very sustainable rather than constructing stadiums etc they did all of it outdoors.
