The British Monarchs Collection continues with a new addition to this innovative series dedicated to some of Britain’s greatest kings and queens. Building on the precedent set by the first coin in the series, the second release features another legendary royal with a design dedicated to James I – the Scottish king James VI who succeeded Elizabeth I to become king of England.

As a worthy successor in the series, the seventeenth-century monarch appears on this new coin in the same classic design that would have featured on the coins of the Jacobean era. Whilst the design first appeared on British coinage more than 400 years ago, this coinage portrait has been faithfully recreated as close to the original as possible using state-of-the-art technology.

I felt 21 was to many to commit to so I'm just collecting the Tudor Monarchs

Really admire your courage of keep buying from the royalmint even though they let you down so many times. 🏆🏆After watching your video, I stop looking at their proof coins already. Returning overseas goods is such a hazard 😉😉

I love British coins. Did you get the entire series of Tudor Dynasty monarchs Backyard Bullion - Henry VII (r. 1485 - 1509), Henry VIII (r. 1509- 1547), Edward VI (r. 1547 - 1553), Mary I (r. 1553-1558), Elizabeth I (r. 1558-1603) ? What about the Stuart dynasty - James I (r. 1603-1625), Charles I (r. 1625-1649), Charles II (r. 1660-1685), James II (r. 1685-1688), William III and Mary II (r.1689-1702) and Anne (r. 1702-1714)

They are nice, i had wished i bought the first one but the commitment to collect yet another series would of just broke me lol. I would love to see RM bring out a bullion version but do it differently, something like 1/2 or 1/4 ounce bullion and have them stamped very rough with lots of imperfections, let them all be individual, even get all the RM staff smack a die with a lump hammer and you could go RM and stamp your own coin

These are stunning. Look quite variable in design too. Twenty one coins though, difficult to sell a 50K set in gold later on! 😮

They’re fantastic. Selling for £95 on royal mint and its now on ebay for 150+. I’ll keep an eye out for the next one but the full set will be worth a hefty fee I imagine

Do you reckon they’ve given up on this series? Edward VI seems way overdue

They are beautiful coins cant get them here in U.S.A. 😢

Out of curiosity, coins weren't perfectly round historically ... how often did people clip the outside of a coin, or grind off a little of it to get some silver or gold dust to profit from?
Is that also the sort of practice that "bits" came from, where a coin was cut into smaller pieces to trade with?
Hence, the reason modern coins have typically added something to the outside edges of coins to prevent or at least deter that from happening?

Was 800 in the queue and the 1 and 2 Oz gone

Thanks for the video. Which Gothic coin was that? The 2 ounce or the 5 ounce?

I missed out on the first, so not sure whether to continue to try and get them all, or just some select .. if they are going to be good quality.. and the Gothic crown thing has just made my blood boil ! right from the start the R.M knew I wanted both, after getting the first, rather than have half a coin .. yet no calls or emails about this.. clearly the Royal Mint doesn't want me as a customer after 15 years or so ... that's fine by me ..
I think I'll be selling my collection over the coming years, and just concentrate on bullion.. life is too short to be dealing with this...

I really like them, but way to expensive for me.🤬 Yeah I'm poor. (Hehe) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Don’t think much of the designs tbh. I think these will be like many of their other releases in that a few years down the road you’ll find them in auctions for way less money.

Meh.
Low Mintage, available to Royal Mint account holders only & much prefer the Queen's Beasts.
I'm just not a fan of Royal effigies on both sides of a coin. Feels like overkill and most likely aimed at hardcore royalists and flippers.
