The mark of a great person is when you own up to a mistake or accident that is easily prevented. They don’t make excuses they figure out how to apologize, make up for the error, and take measures to avoid it in the future.

Happy Birthday to you Jim, "The Cleaning Dad"...I wish many more healthy and happy years for you! I hate screw-ups as much as the next guy, but not editing them out, and making things good... Priceless! I love your channel, and I feel smarter after every episode! Thank you for your skill and expertise in this disposable world!

Hey, the Cleaning Guy wants to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. I also want to point out that today was the Father-in-Law's 95th birthday. The family celebrated at his favorite restaurant, Dairy Queen. I have known him since I was about 12 years old. He has always been there to support my wife and I but never ever meddled in our business. You're a good man George.

In my 53 years of life and 39 yrs of professional possibly billions of dollars of sensitive or irreplaceable equipment/parts and even money matters... I learned early on... *mess up / fess up*. It's called being mature. :) The embarrassment of making an error is FAR less than pointing fingers or getting caught in a lie. I'd rather be fined/suspended/fired from a job after admission of guilt... than the absolute shame of being called a liar or deceitful. I will immediately contact a superior if I make a mistake. In my current job of 2 yrs and counting, I think that was maybe twice... and it was paperwork related that he had to sort out.
If someone admits a mistake/error to me... they actually gain my trust more.
Anyway....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLEANING GUY!

I wish you many more... there's more janitorial training to pass on.

You hit on what I love about machining....you can screw up, but as long as you put some thought into it, you can usually save it!

I would like to see a video where you guys go through machine maintenance. Like the hone machine, when / how you inspect for issues, oil parts, since there is many moving parts, im sure there is a lot to do in off times to make sure it doesnt break down on you guys!

Very nice work Jim and Nicholas.
The sleeve installation really came out nice.
Some people may not realize how tough a job is like this.
And what a huge responsibility and weight it carries.
Certainly precision quality job.
Thanks for sharing the process.
Have a great day.👍🇺🇸

as the cylinder gets cut i like the strobe effect from the lights and the camera that makes the single cutter look like 4

if nick does the math he can figure out if the speed or the electrical hertz from the city is accurate

You can’t fire the cleaning guy cause nobody wants to work anymore. At least he shows up for work. In a way you did the customer a favor. The material that a modern sleeve is made from greatly exceeds the quality of the material used originally to cast the bore way back then. People think that the quality of castings was better in the “good old days “ but it just isn’t true.
Happy birthday cleaning guy!

A good machinist is capable of making mistakes disappear. You both do a GREAT job as does Josh.

Happy Birthday, Cleaning Guy! Good thing that kid came along, or you'd you'd still be selling mud-pies on the side of the county road, and saving up for a dirt floor in your tarpaper shack ;)

Happy Birthday Jimmy!!! Great job. Having a son like Nicholas is a big help. Any screw up that you find and correct is not a mistake.
