Wish my current job would support information and get togethers like this. But, alas, I work for people who wouldn't know how to turn on their own systems even if their life depended on it.

You can run 1500 watts with a ham license in part of the 802.11a/b/g as long as it withing the rules as far as usage (non commercial traffic only etc.) and frequency (only part of the ham frequencies overlap)

I'm like: "Hmm airmon? I'll try to get that going." here let me save you so much detective work by saying apt-get these first:
apt-get install libnl-3-dev
apt-get install sqlite3
apt-get install libnl-genl-3-dev
apt-get install ethtool
...Then goto the aircrack website and do their wonderful copy paste instructions.  Happy day!  Thank you for everything Hak5!

Good question! umm, I'd say it depends on your purpose of what you are doing. it basically removes limitations because those limits aren't recognized in that country. In america it has to do with reserved airspace. there is a lot going on in our spectrums, and it is best not to intrude on it. is it illegal? yes. would I still do it (for science) yes. will you get caught? maybe. but seriously doubtful in an experimentation setting.

You can get all of this stuff with Backrack, a Linux distro.

Darren, you said you read all the comments in your videos, except the ones who say 'first'. So how did you know that someone said first, hmm? ;)

Murder Death Kill? Wesley Snipes must have escaped cryogenic imprisonment, we should thaw out Sylvester Stalone.

Thanks for the reply!! Btw, does it even really help to say you're in Bolivia using that command?

Is it just illegal to set the power above 20 dbm in America or is it also illegal to set yourself in Bolivia with the command "sudo iw reg set BO"? What I'm asking is, can I do the previous command but NOT set txpower higher than 20 and still be following the law? I'm thinking of anonymity and security being the reason to say your in Bolivia. Thanks for the help!!

Sorry Darren but 20dBm = 100mWatt, 27dBm = 500mWatt. every  3dBm more needs double the power in Watt's!
