BURNING RIVER 100 - Through the Storm

Let's get down to it, this race was a rough one. Nutrition problems again, hours and hours or rain, and an old injury creeping back up to make this a much harder 100 miler than it should have been. Follow along as I give this one my best, and stick around to the end to find out what I'm doing next!

Thanks for posting. My son was running the day too and he wasn't filming at all. This was really a gift to be able to actually see what you all were going thru out there. Thank YOU so much for taking the time to share this. Greatly appreciated.

Hi Ryan, Tim here, I met you on the trail that day around mile 37-40 right before the aid station. I know you had a tough day but I’m super happy to hear you say you were going back out again!! You will succeed and if you want company for pacing I’m happy to help. You got this !!

Respect for showing this side of running when it's not going the way intended, the self reflection and the route to recovery. Hope you will share the adjustment of your nutrition once the problem is solved. Although this will not save you from extreme weather conditions and physical/human limitations. You are an awesome runner. Don't forget that !

See you at IT! It'll be my first 100 after a couple 50s. I would love to meet you for a training run if you get out there.

Was hoping for a rally, as you were, too, but you walked away uninjured and still loving the Rubix cube that is ultramarathoning. That’s awesome, too.

Thank-you for making this video!!! It’s true - we never really know what the outcome will be!!! I have had some VERY disappointing races and some very rewarding races. We just do the best we can!!! ❤️

Best of luck with the nutrition challenges and with the training for the next 100! Trying to race in those awful conditions is no fun. Thanks for filming so much of the race while feeling lousy. Well done!

Haven’t seen your videos in awhile. I left ultras/trail running a few years ago due to too many reoccurring ankle injuries. I still miss it but I still enjoy seeing your videos.

Completely understand what you went through. DNFed my first 50 miler: head wasn’t in the right place from the start, rain was torrential from the start and the trail quickly became unrunnable for us mid-packers. Took it as a training run and learning experience just like you have done.

Found your channel when I was training a lot a few years back and doubt you remember me but I was always asking about how you liked listening to Dune. But on topic, really loved what you were about. Between life and other circumstances getting in the way I fell off from 60mi a week to nothing. I’m finally getting back out there and decided to watch your stuff again. This was a great video and definitely has my fire burning again. Thanks for some inspiration
