'The truth will come out': Uvalde mayor vows to own mistakes

There are new details about the initial response to the Robb Elementary School massacre. Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin says a would-be "negotiator" frantically tried to get the gunman inside the Robb Elementary School on the phone, but he didn't answer. And a friend of slain teacher Eva Mireles describes their final moments together. CNN's Nick Valencia has more. #CNN #News

So basically that teacher Eva Mireles was wounded but still alive for an hour... she may have been saved if they went in there sooner. How many of the children were still alive while they waited outside? This is such a failure by the "good guys with guns."

So the teacher laid there for over an hour bleeding out - in pain, but still hoping ... and wondering why the police weren't there for her and the kiddos???? What an unimaginable thing to be feeling. Imagine her heartbreak knowing her kids were dying all around her, and that NONE of the police in her town cared enough about her to help.

This was NOT a negotiator type of incident for one thing... It was NOT a hostage crisis... it was an erratic, emotional mass shooting, with children involved. They should have moved into the building to take out the shooter, immediately. Period.

Did he rush in his walker? This "sick son of a b****" is part of the cover up. He and his people stood by like cowards. This mayor just now also appointed the chief of police as the council member.. He should resign immediately! FYI the mayor hired an outside PR firm to make him and the rest of thugs look good. Shame on all of y'all!

That mayor needs to be voted out too. He isn't as worried about answers as he is yelling at people who have legitimate questions.
He didn't hear shots or the calls but the guy was still shooting and kids were still calling. The leadership in Uvalde is nonexistent.

The Texas explanation, for everything, it wasn’t, me, I know nothing, the other guy did it. That goes for the locals, right up to the governor. During a press conference given by all Texan politicians when Beto questioned the responses, because they didn’t make sense, he was accused of being political!!! WTF
