Mmmh except that owning an NFT means you have a digital paper saying you own the Mona Lisa, but you're not able/allowed to bring it back home with you or keep it to yourself or to do whatever you want with it.

This makes no sense to me. If I owned a piece of art then that has psychical value, is often created a long time ago and is created by a famous artist which explains the demand for it. An NFT is literally a digital picture that is created by random people using digital software and so you owning that NFT is no different to someone having a screenshot of it. Owning Mona Lisa is completely different because you have the physical, original item rather than someone just taking a picture of it and it’s ridiculous to compare the two. The only benefit I can see is like you said about parties and events but what is the need to link that with a digital image?

Your comparison to the Mona Lisa lags behind. There is a difference between the original painting and a picture you took of that painting. There is NO difference between an NFT hosted on a website and you saving that image to your hard drive.
