A suggestion: could you please include a description of who “Andrew Bosley” (or any guest on this show) is within the board game world? Ideally in the title as well. Because most guests are not household names, these titles often read as interviews with random people.

I don’t mind scoring games up. For me part of the fun is taking some time to figure out how well you’ve done. Even in an app game like Marvel Snap, I get annoyed when it fast forwards through all the combos and you just get the end result.

at some point, there was an edition of Uno put out that included a bunch of variant rules (i want to say it was put out around 1998-2000 but i could be wrong.) we tried all of them when i was in college as well as mixing and matching, and despite the stacking getting ridiculous, it was by the far the favorite of the people playing. i think it all just comes down to those moments when somebody ends up having to draw an entire deck of cards. i think the only reason it really works for uno is because it is almost always used as a time waster, not a serious game... so the length of the game being extended by the variants wasn't much different than just finishing a match, shuffling up, and starting a new game. that being said, i burnt out on uno decades ago and playing with stacking now would probably drive me insane.
