Very impressive win. What stood out is GROWTH. On multiple occasions okc stormed back in the 3rd and 4th but spurs kept their composure everytime and surprisingly did enough. Even if they lost it never would have mattered. The spurs have shown that they are coming.

Pop’s coaching tree speaks for itself. I think Mitch was next I line to be next up and coming head coach, so I think he will be the head coach if Pop leaves the bench. Unless Pop leaves the team completely, he still runs the show, and he’s the one that put him as the interim head coach, so I think that’s another reason he’ll get the opportunity.

I think mitch johnson has done well so far and if pop can't come back I would be cool with johnson being head coach. I don't want another head coach coming here and trying to change the culture and bringing a whole new system.

As far as Pop in the 90’s - my memory is that he was the GM. He fired Bob Hill and *then* started looking for a new coach, doing the coaching himself in the interim and eventually deciding to keep the job. So, in essence, he hired himself. 😂

I really like Mitch every game except the mavericks which was a back to back game, we have been so competitive and his situational play calling has been very good also out of timeouts.

Back in 1999 the Spurs were also 6-8 and if they lost Pop was probably going to be fired. They won and eventually turned their season around. Maybe this win will help cement Mitch Johnson as the permanent successor to Pop.
