Imagine playing every assassins creed game and not knowing this

The symbol itself is based on the symbol of the freemasons. The use of that skull in Origins was just brilliant though

The Eagle, a motif in the Assassin's Creed franchise, is symbolic of freedom and peace that the Assassins fight for, as well as nature - which is chaotic and random. The Cross, for the Templar's, represent organization, order, and power, which are crucial for artificial human civilization to function. Left at our own natures, there'll be chaos without order. Put into a strict order with fewer human rights, order will eventually break. Therefore, there must be a balance of both order and freedom. This was emphasised with AC Rogue and Unity especially, but not with great skill, and then the idea of the needed unity of both the Assassin and Templars ideologies was abandoned by Ubisoft, more so.

For those that don't know, the designer of the logo confirmed that he did not base it on the skull. He didn't even know what an eagle skull looked like underneath until someone pointed it out years later. He has released a video showing the design process and he said he based it on the letter "A" and a certain type of sword that existed at the time AC1 was set in.

I always thought for some reason it was because that was somehow the shape of the hidden blade lmao

I remember before Origins was released, and I just thought it was a neat coincidence till that scene on the shore. I felt dumb.

I think the eagle skull was just an afterthought that happened to work so they went with it. I feel like the logo designers more likely took inspiration from the Freemasons' "Square and Compass" logo.

I can imagine when they were making a game about a secret society and the topic of the logo came up, they probably thought to look at the logos of other secret societies for inspiration

Its clever. Looks like the A in assassin's creed. Looks like the hood. Looks like the hidden blade and looks like an eagle

Like how the eagle represents freedom and that’s what the assassins fight for

I thought it fit well with the fact that the assassins originated in Egypt, where they worshipped Khonsu, the moon god. Who is typically depicted with a bird skull for his head and works in the shadows of the night

it's an eagle, it's a hidden blade, it's a hood, it's the letter A
it's the most perfect logo that works in every possible way you can possibly interpret it

I thought everybody who's a fan of the series already knew this

Not gonna lie, I thought it was meant to be like the hidden blade or hood but stylised to look like an A for assassin but the skull makes a lot more sense

Its the marking of the eagle skull that bayek and aya's son khemu had before he died and when bayek renounced his status as a medjay, father and a husband he took the skull of his neck and left it on the sand and the mark was left when aya picked up the skull
