Podcast is Called : ASN Humans Are Space Orcs , HFY and other stories
--------------

This Story is Classified as HFY or Humanity Feck, Yea , but what does the Mean?
-------------
HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.
-------------
Taken from the FAQ of the r/HFY subreddit.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

For once I identify with the alien coworker.
Why waste energy on things that you don't have to do? Save it for when a customer gets stuck in the door or something.

The more complex a system gets, the more there is a trade off of efficiency vs exception handling.
Sure productivty can be improved, but the ability to handle unforseen problems diminishes.
Until you have a super strong super fast needle that snaps at the next speed bump.
A government that is extremely efficient will fail those who do not fit in approved boxes.

Wouldn’t it be more efficient to have every transport available able to accommodate the largest? Because then everyone would fit, from the largest downward, rather than optimizing for the average sized passenger. Optimizing for the average means that every passenger even slightly larger on up will be uncomfortable.

as someone who is a little taller than average where I come from I have problems with kitchen sinks, toilets, bus seats etc etc I hate standard sizes in everyday life... either my legs get in the way or it affects my back when I have to half bend down for everything... on the other hand I have a friend who is a little below average who has to use a small stool to reach top cabinets and such...
it's like average is only good for the average and very bad for everything outside of that....

Bemoans government inefficiency. Then orders 3 transports that are going to be mostly idle.
Efficient.

Slowing down to get more efficient makes sense as long as there is no counter acting force.
For earth originated life, that force is age. Specifically, cellular senescence.
The longer you wait, the harder it gets to do things.
If you got big plans, you need to get on them before you are too old to.

Why hasn't science fixed it yet? Why no pill of youth yet?
Oh they're working on it.
The first clue that someone successfully made it is when the super rich start looking suspiciously youthful.

The only thing that "fits all" is the Universe.... And nobody knows what size it is.

"One Size Fits All" hats don't fit me.
I think my skull bones are too thick.
