Landowska said many years ago that the harpsichord was the perfect instrument for folk music—this proves it!

Very well played!
The harpsichord timbre reminds me of the Cimbalom
.

Nice playing - and a fine Kroesbergen too :-)

Number 3 and 5 sounds as if it really was written for harpsichord. Didn‘t expect this.

Way to go:If you play this on a good harpsichord, play it as if you play it on a good harpsichord - with all the natural ways of expression, phrasing & articulation that a good harpsichord expects.
It will not sound like 'early music' in any case.

- Of course, it also takes a brilliant musician like Patrick Ayrton to realize it all - This is simply wonderfully pleasing!! Bravo, my friend!!

Almost all so called "piano music" written between ca. 1770 and ca. 1805 has been written for harpsichord or piano forte. Why did not Bartók write on the front page "Romanian Folk Dances for piano or harpsichord"? Very well played, Patrick. Two thumbs up.

Why would you perform this early 20th century folk piece on a harpsichord scapes me, but he'll it sounds great!

Very beautiful! Is this one of the few pieces that Bartok indicated to be suitable to harpsichord?
Because I know he wrote a few pieces suitable to both piano and harpsichord.
