Gothic British Architecture.
Chester's Town Hall is a Grade II listed building located in the centre of Chester, Cheshire, England. It was designed by William Henry Lynn and built between 1865 and 1869 in the Gothic Revival style.
This beautiful building was built in banded pink and buff sandstone with a grey-green slate roof. The tower that terminates with gables and a short diagonal spire. It features war memorials to the 768 citizens of Chester who died in World War I and a plaque to those who died in World War II.
Chester Town Hall features a stunning interior with various rooms and decorations. The entrance leads to the Waiting Hall, which contains busts of George V and Sir Horatio Lloyd, as well as three sculptures depicting minstrels marching to the aid of Earl Ranulph III, Sir William Brereton, and Edward, the Black Prince.
The Assembly Room is the largest room in the Town Hall and has a stage at one end.
On the first floor, you find the council chamber, the Lord Mayoral suite, a committee room, and the members' room. The council chamber was rebuilt after a fire in 1897 and features paneling with wooden and stone carvings. The Lord Mayoral suite consists of the Lord Mayor's Parlour and the Mayoress' Parlour.
