I'm halfway through and I already know I'm going to watch it again with a notepad. For someone like me whose ancestors are all from Southern Italy this is great information. Thank you Connie!

This is one of the best and informational videos about immigration. Already answered some of my long time questions.

My family and I immigrated in 1956 and like Jackie said we came in to HAL (Holland America Line) port and got off the ship but didn't have to go too Ellis Island. We did have to wait in the warehouse of the docking are for our crates to be ok by customs. This was very interesting video for me. Thank you.

This was fabulous! I never thought about the details involved from the ship docking, transport via ferry to Ellis Island, and then the steps involved to complete the process. Thanks for this outstanding video.

Thank you for this video. I was able to locate immigration details for my paternal grandfather, his brother and mother. Who came from Galicia Austria, to NY to Pennsylvania where they met their father/husband. My grand uncle was born in PA so the record confirms that fact. As well, when they arrived in NY they met my great grandmother's brother - new family member not known before. Finally, there is a place of last residence which gives me a starting point for research in Galicia Austria. Though at first review the name of last residence doesn't seem to be spelled correctly.

My adopted parents and families came in through Ellis Island. My fathers father died on his job because of a safety issue his boss ignored. I actually found the multiple page court document where his mother sued his fathers boss. She was left alone with 7 children. The eldest two had to quit school and go to work to take care of their family. He never told me any of this.

my great great… grandad owned Ellis island although his name is not known quite yet to us as we discover family history, basically meaning I’m part of the Ellis family I only found out today and we are discovering family history, but yea we have birth certificates death certificates and official family history to prove he is my ancestor, I’m shocked haha… my family goes right back to do with William the conqueror

Great walk through on searching records, and I’ll definitely be downloading the pdf. But I was fascinated by the process, and I wish she could have gone farther with it. That’s definitely not part of any story I heard from my ancestors. 😃. Thank you for yet another relevant video!

This was fascinating, thank you. I DO have a question about the cost though. When I went to the site I entered my grandmother's name & she came up with her name, the date & ship name BUT the icons on the far right look like they have a $29.99 charge to see the manifest, for example. Is that correct?
