That third tape, that you commented "foil" about looks like kapton tape. It's used primarily for electrical insulation, sometimes they make flexible circuit boards from it. It has a really high heat resistence, without stretching or deforming. Really handy tape to have around. It's also used heavily in spacecraft.

That looks like a solid built Grinder ..The other items were also great gifts Those big steel pins look like they are out of a piece of construction equipment ..maybe an arm on a backhoe or Hydraulic cylinder pins

I've been using that type of solder for years with great success. It is great for all manner of electronics work.

Mr Peterson, you deserve every present you get! That was very generous from the Dumore representative - It made me check out their website and I strongly consider buying one of their excellent products next (instead of a competitor's). Happy Christmas and I can't wait to see you doing a project with these huge slugs... Cheers from the Land Down Under... Rolf

Have lots of fun with your gifts.

Hi Mr. Pete

That amber colored transparent tape is a kapton tape which is resistant to temperatures more than 300 celsius and mainly used on electronics. It is an expensive tape.

Thanks for the videos.

You really hit the jackpot!  The grinder is awesome, especially with the tool post mounts.  It's always nice to get viewer appreciation gifts.

Thanks for sharing!

I still have some Loctite 515 in a small tube, 5-6" long, that I worked with way back in 1988 and it is still good and works when I need it.  I'm in awe that it still works after so long.  Great products!

only thing better than a trip to the scrap yard is having it delivered for free.
I have been working on a bracket to mount my air die grinder on my lathe tool post similar to the smaller bracket you showed.

The orange tape is rubber bonding tape, for electrical work.  Peel off the backing, and apply by wrapping and stretching it.. It won't stick to the work, but it sticks to itself really well.  It's used in electric motor connection boxes, and for sealing up splice areas.  I used it on fighter planes in the USAF.

That collection of Lock-Tites, solder, and various electrical tapes reminds me of the stuff that we had in the assembly bays, back when I worked at an aerospace electronics firm...

I really enjoy your videos! That first tape that is rubbery looks like what we called F4 tape...stretchy and only sticks to itself...good stuff!

As others have said, the translucent tape is Kapton tape, used for high temp stuff, the solder is for electronics, and the black tape with the backing looks like coax seal to me, it's pliable and sticky, you use it to make water tight seals on things (like coax)

The Permabond 910 is actually Eastman 910, the very first "super glue" invented by Harry Coover Jr, and was the first cyanoacrylate adhesive to be sold, that was in 1958. For quite a while it was the only "super glue" you could get, and was very expensive. I used it in research labs in the 1960s. Also back then Eastman Kodak sold cyanoacrylate to Locktite Corp (formerly American Sealants) which used CA to formulate some of their products. Eventually Eastman Kodak sold their CA biz to National Starch and Chemical Company which marketed CA's under the brand "Permabond." Locktite went on to develop an array of their own products, silicones, epoxies, acrylics and anaerobics. In 1997 Locktite was bought out by the German firm Henkle.

My family history with Dumore goes way back.
Grandpa retired from there as well as my dad and for a short time one of my brothers worked there as well.
Grandpa was on the assembly line and dad was the stockroom foreman.
This was back when their plant was based in Racine, WI. and that's a long time ago.

Those black tapes rolls with the cellophane backing look like self annealing silicone tape. I think they call it self fusing tape now. When applying, peel off the backing while stretching it tightly around the target with about 2/3 overlap, then reverse direction for another full pass back to where you started. Very strong stuff. For leaky pipes, hoses, etc.

The solder is standard flux cored 1mm solder used for soldering electronics.
So, if ever go into PCB (Printed Circuit Board) manufacture you will have the solder for soldering the electronic parts on it... ;-)
