This 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is a game changer. The first EV truck with all day range, road trip legs, and it can actually tow a trailer (without the bumper ripping off). No matter how good it is though, the software is what it all comes down to.

JR: EV RST owner here. For the auto close on the frunk, double click the remote close and hold the close button down. It is a safety feature to keep people from losing fingers FYI.

JR, here are some corrections for ya
- Spotify, Waze, YouTube Music, etc are downloadable in the play store once you register
- Google system sends texts / voice calls just like CarPlay, all done by voice controls
- Homelink pop up on the Home Screen when you arrive home as they are location sensitive.
- E-trunk has a button on the front, one touch to close on that button, hold to close inside button & key
-“my mode” allows you to change acceleration controls. Relaxed is slow, normal is better, sport is fast, WoW is full 754 hp
- if you’ve gone through a drive cycle(P-D-P), the truck will turn off when drivers’ door is opened
- ask Google anything, just like your phone
- phones connect automatically, no need to connect every time
- light steering feel can be corrected in “my mode” when put into steering - sport
- if you want to talk to Siri, long hold the voice control button on the steering wheel
- **demo mode doesn’t work as well as a fully registered / setup vehicle

If they do the software for the GMT800 gauges, having a fuel gauge that randomly drops to empty, then back to 3/4 would be a big flex!

People are broke, the auto industry went from cheap sheet metal cars/tanks to outrageously expensive and poorly made modern vehicles with less reliability and all of the plastic under the hood.
People can’t afford EV junk that will have 5+ owners by the 8th year of the vehicles life if not more with EV depreciation.
New cars aren’t worth their weight like they used to 15+ years ago.🤷‍♂️

You should find out how much those tires cost; because this truck is going to go through them quickly. Between its heavy weight and enormous torque. And 24 inch wheels are a bad idea for anybody who wants range.

I own this truck and the biggest fail is no Apple CarPlay. I bought it because I need the midgate, the range, Supercruise and the suspension is the best in any truck I've ever owned. However, this truck is NOT worth $100K. Be patient and you'll see dealers giving at least $10K OFF by December if not even more. Hummer EV's are sitting and not selling. Same will happen with these trucks. The economy sucks and people are broke.

The frunk is functioning as expected. You double click and HOLD until it gets below 50% to avoid accidentally closing on a hand or child. My trunk on all eGMP cars from Hyundai/Genesis/Kia functions in the same way when closing with the remote.

Regarding EVs versus ICE cars Jay Leno made a really good observation. They just need to figure out how to make a synthetic gasoline that doesn't pollute the atmosphere and has an unlimited supply. I think he's on to something.

Excellent review sir - thank you! I agree with your thoughts on the UI and the lack of CarPlay and buttons for common features. I'm (hopefully at least) a couple years away from a new vehicle, but honestly, this has me intrigued. The carrying and towing capacities are both good. The comforts are good as well. I'd like a little smaller wheel for larger sidewall but would have to drive to know. Again, many thanks ~ Chuck. P.S. I wonder if some of the screen issues are due to Demo Mode? Or maybe I'm just hoping.

There is a button by the front parking sensor to close the front of the truck. Also if you double click and hold the button it also closes the front trunk or inside button.

Hype up the truck just like you did the Hyundai Ioniq 5N. It's not going to sell 1 vehicle except to some youtuber making videos about it.
