One has to have worked for at least the last 5 consecutive years prior to applying. I stopped working in July 2010 and restarted in Oct. 2015, I was injured and on Worker's Comp until Aug 2019. My attorney and doctor advised me to apply for disability and they would both support me in it. When I researched and was going to do so I was advised by an attorney about the five year thing. I was just a couple of months shy and it still was not doable.
