Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport: Muffled vs Unmuffled Exhaust, Downshifts & 4.0L Flat-6 Sound!

This video is all dedicated to the racing version of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, Porsche's mid-engined sports car and their first car outside the 911 to wear the RS badge and treatment. The car leaves the factory ready to race and can be used in the SRO Racing Series and GT4-class without further modifications.

The 4.0-litre flat-6 engine is taken over unchanged from the production car and it's the same unit that can be found on both 992 GT3 and 992 GT3 Cup cars. The Clubsport is offered with two different exhaust systems, one unmuffled and one with mufflers on, meaning the GT4 RS can also compete on tracks with stricter noise limits. (in this video the white/black/red AVIA and the white/black/fluo yellow have this muffled exhaust)

Both sound good IMO, i actually like the muffled sound better, sounds more like a Porsche. I guess i am spoilt due to the 991.2 RSR unmuffled

It’s interesting how the muffled car sounds slightly more characteristically like a Porsche while the unmuffled car sounds better. Unmuffled is definitely the way to go though, it’s a much beefier, throaty sound from an engine we’re so used to hearing scream at a higher pitch.
