In today's video we go over almost 3,000 booster packs of data to take a look at the pull rates for Pokemon's newest set - Lost Origin.

With release date officially upon us, it is important to take a look at the statistical side of what you can expect to open when it comes to pulling your chase cards. Lost Origin is loaded with a ton of amazing card including a Trainer Gallery that looks better than we have ever seen before. While pull rates are expected to be consistent with each release, it is a little unsettling to see a decent sample size yielding an extremely low amount of alternate arts being pulled. Do you think down the road Pokemon cards will need to comply with regulation regarding transparency of rarity. Coming from a video game background and seeing the evolution of loot boxes, TCGs seem like the physical counterpart.

I got really good pulls on my first box yesterday. Higher than average I would say. This is what I pulled:
2 Radiant Cards - (2 Sneaslers)
6 Trainer Gallery cards - (Charizard, Gallade, Gengar, Akari's Pikachu, Snorlax, Kabu)
5 V Cards - (Kyurem, Pidgeot, Drapion, Aerodactyl, Zoroark)
2 Full Art V Cards - (Delphox, Pidgeot)
2 V Star Cards - (Aerodactyl, Zoroark)

This is the first booster box ive ever bought and man was it a sad experience.
4 V's, 1 Vstar, 2 radiant, 2 FA, 4 TG
Stuff like Pidgeot V, Magnezone V, Opal TG, Zoroark Vstar..
Low amount of hits and each hit was almost the worst in their respective category lol

I’ve been saying this and I will keep saying it. some where down the production line they are pocketing cards leaving a huge gap in pull rate for the more sought out cards. I noticed it with evolving skies every one pulls the same cards the same vmax over and over again only until months and a huge restock happens then will the public start pulling more sought after cards . I was calling myself crazy at first but when you see something like this it’s kind of difficult to deny....

I think this is a great breakdown compared to the pictures of all the hits per boosterbox. Information is all there on the screen and digestable with your clear explanations - SOLID!

I have opened almost 3 cases so far and have found some weird occurrences. First case 4 gold secret rares, 1 alt. Second case, an abnormal amount of rainbow rares, 0 alts, 3 of the same full art. Third case I started buying from 4 alts. I think parts of these printer sheets are getting clumped together. And cases with an alt art are more likely to have multiple alt arts, same with gold cards. It's just a theory, lmk if you experience similar pulls with your cases.

Thank you for the information data analysis Danny! I honestly feel like some people are a bit naive to think that Pokemon would not adjust alternate art pull rates to their advantage. With the Trainer Gallery, they can't allow too much value.

I actually was looking at a huge display of lost origin a little while ago at Walmart and I reluctantly walked away and put the pack back and got a pack of magic instead the value simply isn't there and I was setting myself up for disappointment

Crazy how cheap some cards are compared to how much, on average, it costs to pull them.

This may be the most accurate pull rate study when comparing it to my personal experience. I've opened I don't know how many booster boxes, etb's, etc. I'm missing only 5 cards in my master set, and they are literally the 4 alt arts (giratina, aerodactyl, rotom, and perserker) and the rainbow giratina... im at least glad to hear it wasn't just my dumb luck and is actually in line with real-life pull rate statistics. I know some people hit the big cards early, but those people can count themselves among the truly lucky.

Great video. I just pulled an Aerodactyl V out of a MJ Holdings 3pack mystery box Yesterday. Nearly lost my mind when i seen it. Ive only opened up about 15 packs of Lost Origin since ive started collecting Pokemon Cards a few years ago.

Wow this is rough! I opened 2 Lost Origin boxes and got 2 Giratina V, 1 Giratina V Rainbow, 1 Gold Zoroark, 1 Rainbow Zoroark, 1 FA Adventurer & Kabu and Pikachu VMAX TG17 and etc. I guess my boxes are lucky! 80 boxes with only 6 alt arts is really tough! Thanks for the info!

always love this kind of content! I opened 2 cases, no alt arts, no rainbow or gold pokemon from the main set! all were trainer/support. but I did pull 4 gold/black pikachu, 3 mew, 3 tg vmax pikachu and 4 tg v pikachu. along with 7 charizard and 6 pilachu regular tg cards. Pull rates were 0.88 per booster box down on your hits.
Gutted with not hitting a single rainbow/gold/ alternate pokemon, but lots of the bigger trainer gallery cards pulled!!

Funny enough, I only opened 1 pack from Gamestop, cause I was there to chip away Pokemon Violet pre-release order so why not try my luck. Pulled a magnezone vstar; pretty satisfying to me.
