The Chechen war was something else man. Imagine fighting with your brothers together in Afghanistan, return back home and have a normal life. Only to have a civil war where you are now facing each other and have no choice but to attack. This, in my opinion is what makes the Russian Chechen war so brutal. It may not be the bloodiest, but it sure is the saddest and most anguishing war fought in modern history. Battle of Stalingrad were 2 sworn enemies forces fighting eachother, understandable. Bur there is nothing worse than forcing to turn your weapons on your own brothers. Not only that, the war crimes committed during the Russian Chechen war were unspeakable. I remember watching some of them on liveleak… never again
