Optimizing MySQL on your WordPress site is an excellent way to make your website load faster. In this video, you will learn what MySQL DataBase is, how it works and what you can do to optimize it in your WordPress site.

MySQL is one of the most popular database platforms available and the one that WordPress has behind. It allows us to store blog posts, podcast episodes, products and orders all in one place, as well as allows us to easily retrieve that information.

But also MySQL dataBase, as any other database, can start delivering MySQL slow queries and slow your WordPress website speed. The more information you have on it, the more it can slow down queries to retrieve the information, as the indexes behind take memory and the bigger they get, the more memory they need to stay fast.

Nevertheless, there are ways you can speed things up again by optimizing your WordPress MySQL database. As a non-technical owner, the best option for you is to select a hosting provider that:

Helpful video. The SQL file is getting larger, so I was attempting to clean it up. I had not turned on Memcached (hosted through SG) and it actually caused the site to initially become a BIT slower. I purged the cache and performed the speed test. The difference was negligible (still a little bit slower). So I left it on. I'm hoping the SQL database size will be cleaned up with the "Environment" database manager. Fingers crossed. Great video that thank you.
