Project SHIELD: Real Boxing demo [Android Thursdays]

Welcome to the first episode of Project SHIELD - Android Thursdays. In this series we'll show you how we use our Tegra 4-powered Project SHIELD to play Android games whenever, wherever we please.

In this episode, we take you through a demo of Real Boxing - straight from the Nth Street Cafe.

I can't wait to get my hands on this. To be able to play my pc games in bed, on the couch, or anywhere around the house is simply amazing. Then the real magic happens when I connect the shield to the Plasma Tv in my living room wired or wirelessly! Amazing stuff. My plasma has very low input lag so gameplay will still remain fluid. Sitting in front of the fire on a cosy couch playing pc games. That's what it's all about. The Shield makes this possible for me and I'm sure countless other gamers:0

thank you so much for putting the control sticks in the right place. thank you. I was really disappointed that ouya and gamestick both decided to take a step in the wrong direction with there controllers making both of them lose this potential customer but you people at nvidia are smart. now don't mess it up by deciding to move the control sticks to the wrong place keep them right where they are.

Make no mistake, this is an Android portable gaming device first! The added PC remote play feature is just a plus that some people might love (coming from NVIDIA it's for the most part catered to PC gamers) and might even be considered a selling point for some (myself included), but others might not even care about it. As a standalone portable gaming device I would take my VITA. As a multi-purpose portable device I have high hopes for this. My S3 is quite capable, but I need freaking buttons!

What's not to love here? Stream any media from the Shield to your tv by using the touch screen or the analogue sticks/buttons if you prefer. Netflix, youtube, android games, pc games, and any media you like through full android jelly bean. Basically, all of the entertainment I love is going to be controlled and output tend to my tv with the shield. Then when I'm going to bed, bring it with me and plug in the headphones. I don't think people realise how good this thing is!

So often we see companies developing hardware for the mass market. It is so refreshing to see a company like Nvidia creating a product that may not be well received by every single person. I can see lot of pc gamers with a gtx 650 and above jumping all over this. That in itself is a considerable consumer base. Even without the pc streaming, this is the best handheld gaming device on the market. Full android, HD reina touch screen that is super responsive and snappy

Gaming on a phone (I have the Galaxy S3) is pretty cool. Its probably closer to the experience that this device will offer (from a SW standpoint). But the truth is that I have like 4 different bluetooth gamepads that I bought to use with it and I hate them all. I'm not very much into tablets I don't know why. So this is why the SHIELD I'm hoping will be able to fill in that gap. The fact that its an android device opens up the platform to multiple possibilities and the gaming HW is pure win!

I'm interested in one of these, but I worry that the price will be crazy. I'm also worried about the screen quality - it looks a bit washed out on that video. Would have been nice if this had an OLED like the Vita.

There is nothing else quite like the Nvidia Shield on the market. Amazing gaming handheld. The most powerful II handheld in the world to be more precise. What other handheld gaming device can play pc games at ultra graphical settings? None. Streaming or not streaming, this is an amazing achievement. Gaming from the comfort of the sofa on a large screen tv is suddenly viable for the majority of pc gamers! The Nvidia Shield is ingenious.

All right, Question about Project shield. Can we stream our games over the Internet? What size SD card can it take? Is it ready to work with emulators? How well does it play movies? Can you plug in headphones and listen to music? How much onboard space does it have? What's the price? Seriously!!

This is still no competition to a hand-held console, its not about graphics, its about games, the storyline.

Will buy this one... hopefully some nice RPGs will be released for Tegra 4 soon, or/and Unreal Engine 3 PC game ports :D

Mobile processors are improving quickly, but I expect this year's processors including Tegra 4 to be MAYBE able to put out the same level of graphics effects, textures, and triangles as the PS360 at maybe a higher resolution. For me that's good enough for something mobile.

Someone pls explain this device to me. What type of games can you play with this device? Android games only? Or are there original games for the device? Like PSP and Nintendo gameboys?

I'd like to see you play top games such as Battlefield 3 with ALL details maxed out, Crysis /2/3, Skyrim, Fallout3 etc on the PS Vita. ;)

I don't get it, Shield will play PC games (from steam) or Android ones, or both? if yes, how can the GPU handle pc games, something like euh, Crysis 2, COD Black Ops2...? o.O

Looks like a high res xbox 1 game, not bad at all for mobile at what looks like 60 fps

when you say ps360 are you refering to the playstation 3 and the xbox 360 or just the xbox 360
