This 50% bonus strength is also the approach taken by Souls games.

Shad, I'm naming my next D&D character after you. He'll be a paladin wielding a Greatclub and he will never shut up about big stick energy.

4:20 It was at this moment that I realized what nunchuks really are. They're the worst version of a flail. They're a flail that's symmetrical instead of one side having a nice heavy thing that can deal major damage and with a short chain that isn't as good for hooking or whipping around an opponent's defenses at unexpected angles. It's just an inferior flail. A complete flail fail.

I love how you combine your passion of medieval weapons with scientific physics. Keep up the great work!

Shad never misses an opportunity to diss the 'chucks

6:06 This is actually also how it works in the Souls series video games, holding your weapon with two hands grant a really nice +50% to your strengh stat

Longsword is classified as a “versatile” weapon in 5e.

Meaning it can be used 1 or 2 handed.

Of course, the RPGs still ignore the most IMPORTANT difference: the additional control you have over the weapon. With two hands, you are faster and have much more precise control. Yet there is no bonus to your chance to hit when attacking, nor to your chance to defend yourself against an attack

Shad seems like he had a lot of fun making this video. Never a dull moment when Shad is ripping on Nunchucks.

For a brief moment I thought this was going to be about the ballistic dagger-sword from the latest film

Shad has magic swords! Notice the enchantment on the blades make them shimmer and faze between our world and the wraith world, becoming almost invisible to the mortal eye. I'd bet the Wizard Oz has been helping to enchant Shad's gear.

"Clever Monkey Spins the Branch" was a skill that let you use polearms at normal sword-fighting distance (for 3rd and 3.5 D&D.)

That lovely blade disappearing against the background is an otherworldly effect on its own. Awesome!

Nothing says a good episode like starting with shad yelling at an inanimate object.

I love how shad's sword phases in and out of existence when it reflects the green screen lol

Wait until Shad realizes that 5th edition changed the rules to increase the dice size instead of adding half your strength modifier.

5e is slightly different, but still has this concept in it. Some weapons like longswords can be wielded with one or two hands and get a higher damage die when two handed.

The way I see longswords in DnD is that it's just one of the weapons that wasn't properly named. I think of the "longsword" as actually being a bastard sword (or anything similar made to be wielded with one or two hands) and the "greatsword" as being something between a longsword and a greatsword since it doesn't have extra reach.

Monkey Grip lets you wield a weapon one size up. There is also a magical item that does the same which together lets you wield a weapon that a giant uses. Welcome to becoming Cloud in D&D.

Note that two-handing a single weapon is also slightly faster. In a roleplaying game this doesn't matter much, but in real life this is another reason why a single weapon is generally going to be much more damaging than having dual swords or whatnot, you strike harder, faster, and more focused.
