My dad use to work for Qantas so we used to fly a lot . I still do. When I was a kid I sometimes got to go into the cockpit. I remember one time with the captains headset on and we were following the coastline down Newcastle stretch to Sydney. Amazing. Coming into Sydney airport from a Northern direction you see the beaches opera house Harbour bridge Randwick racecourse. Flying into Sydney is such a brilliant sight.

I lived in and flew in and out of Sydney for many years - both on A380's and many others. I can't remember a take-off that showed such excellent views from the harbour-side all the way west to the Hawkesbury river and the Blue Mountains beyond. Great capture! These days I live in rural NZ, and the most exciting thing I see in the sky is the occasional cessna. Many thanks for the memories!

4:44 for those who don't know Sydney there is a road tunnel which goes under the main north-south runway and the accompanying taxi lanes. You practically have to taxi to next suburb before you take off. A one hour flight to brisbane adds another 30 mins stuffing around with push back from the terminal and a taxi to takeoff position.

Saw an A380 on approach to the main Houston airport yesterday. It came directly overhead at an altitude of about 3, 000 ft. I was completely in awe of what I was seeing. I immediately got on flightradar24 and found that it was an Emirates A380 originating in Dubai.

For those who don't That was an easy to West take off . Views of city opera house - Harbour bridge - Sydney Harbour - following the Parramatta river - Parramatta CBD. Rosehill racecourse - Olympic Park and now you are about to fly over the Great Dividing Range and Blue Mountains. Now it's time for a beer snacks and a movie.
