Worst to best result — 🇩🇰 Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest (1957–2024)
Показать описание
In this video you see a ranking from the worst to the best result of all Danish Eurovision entries. The ranking is based on both placements and amount of points. Pause the video during the info-texts in the beginning to read more about how I have calculated the ranking. Feel free to ask any questions!
Denmark was one of the first countries to debut in the second edition in 1957. They were quite successful, with a victory in 1963, despite being accused of favouring from neighbour voting. Despite the success, the Danish broadcaster did not care that much for the show. When hosting in 1964, they ”lost” the tapes and that’s why there are no full recording of the broadcast. The lack of interest died completely after their flop in 1966 and they left the contest for a long time.
In 1978 Denmark returned and stayed forever and did pretty well. A second victory was received in 2000. The following year Copenhagen hosted the show in the largest arena ever, which was criticised as too large. The audience was too loud and many people in the audience couldn’t see anything.
In 2013 they won once again in Sweden. The following year they organised one of the most extra shows ever. The stage and the interval acts had everything. They had so much planned that they had to cut out an interval act at last minute. Afterwards the bill showed that the budget had passed over 30 million. Eurovision 2014 is remembered as a spectacular show by fans, but for the Danish broadcaster it’s remembered as an infrastructural and economical nightmare. Maybe Danes shouldn’t host the contest. That seems to be the logic of the broadcaster, because in the last decade they have gotten really bad results. Currently Denmark is the country with the longest non-qualification streak.
Denmark almost always sends happy pop songs and they have only sung once in Danish since 1999.
