We Went To The LIV GOLF TOUR... Our HONEST Opinions? The LIV GOLF TOUR is a hot topic at the moment, with players such as Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Phl Mickelson and Lee Westwood having already signed uo for the Saudi Arabia backed golf tour people are divided in the idea of the amount of money the players will be playing for and Players such as Rory Mcilroy, Justin Thomas, Tiger Woods and many others have turned down the LIV Tour to concentrate on the PGA TOUR, if it does boil down to LIV TOUR VS PGA TOUR then things get quite nasty, will they learn to work together? what was the first event like? and what are out honest opinions? let's find out... and let's do it now!

Watched on YouTube and the ultimate feeling I had was that I wasn't watching a golf tournament I cared about but was watching an exhibition match where people were playing for money only and I want bothered who won. YouTube coverage was ok. Wasn't keen on the abbreviated names on the leaderboard as it was a job to work out who was who. Didn't think the team aspect bought anything to it in all honesty. If the players are going to be honest and say it's about pay cheques and nothing else then that's fine but I'm not convinced about it 'growing the game' as they kept banging on about. I don't see it shifting the needle and making non golfers want to watch. It still took them 4 and a half to 5 hours to play a shotgun start!!!

Personally, anything involving Greg Norman or Saudi "SPORTSWASH" money is a big no-no.
So I watched the Canadian Open instead, which was an amazing tournament!

Happy Birthday Gary! What did James give you. Asking for his old Vokey wedges that I am sure ate just kicking around in his garage. I left a comment on Gary's channel yesterday about LIV Tour. I believe the focus is being driven by the media toward the money and being vested with the Saudis. Yes there is a lot of money but no one is talking about the monopoly that the PGA tour. No one is talking about the ridiculous amount of money the PGA gets just in Televison money. The PGA owns the Golf World. Let's say the UK government announced that all banks would be closed except the Bank of England. The only cars available to buy, Tesla. As to being in partnership withe Saudis. The RBC, ex-sponsor if Dustin Johnson is currently the underwriter for a 1.2 Trillion deal with the Saudis. The President of the US is headed over to Sudia Arabia this week to beg them to increase production of pumping more oil. Here are just few top 500 corporations that are in bed with the Saudis. Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, Chase Manhattan Bank, Bank of America, RBC, Ford Motor Company(maker of Bentley & Jaguars) and the list goes on and on. But don't let an independent golfer who gets no health insurance, pension, profit sharing from the PGA, to have the freedom to play where they would like to play without being banned. Sorry very long comment. I really enjoy your channel James. Thank you for sharing your time and talents. I am a fan! Cheers Mate!

I hate to see so many fans blindly embracing this “sportswashing”, and so many big names willing to overlook where the money is coming from and sign up.

The only thing positive I have taken away from the whole LIV saga is that Rory is a stand up guy.

My main issue with it is where the money is coming from. I don't like that the PGA tour is solely in North America and half the tournaments have no big names in anyway. We need the main golf tour to be worldwide, yes the majority of events can still be in the US but to grow the game it needs to change.

Americans have no business slandering the Saudi’s. We buy billions of dollars of oil from there every year and we have sold them billions in weapons but that doesn’t bother people .

No problem with the LIV as an alternative tour but the final round of the Canadian Open showed exactly what professional tournament golf is all about. Brilliant TV viewing

You have said it guys it’s good for golf. The problem with the mainstream narrative ie, golf news channel’s in America, is they are all worried about their contracts including the people who work for the PGA. The Hippocrates in the media will soon be eating their words. It’s a great addition to golf especially to well known great young golfers. Roll on Greg. Can’t wait for it to come to Bangkok.🇹🇭🙏

Happy birthday Gaz! I know a lot of people are complaining of the money, but here is the thing that a lot of people are not realizing, and Bryson Dechambeau explained this in detail at one point. PGA pro tour players are independent contractors. You have to pay for all the expenses to play events (airfare, taxis, food, lodging, etc.), and if you don't make the cut, you don't make anything at all (like zero money). So, you actually end up in a deficit. It's hard. Especially if you have a family to feed. And like he said, if you're in the top 125 on the PGA tour, you have a good life. But if you're below the top 150, you're likely not making it. So for them to have an appearance fee means they can play golf and enjoy it and focus on the sport, not worry if they are going to feed their families or not, etc. Something people should consider...

Every one is talking about the Saudis and how they treat women and people shouldn't play for a company backed by the Saudis but I think its good to offer golfers who won't necessarily win the Masters a chance to play the sport they love and provide for there family's. I'm all for it.

I liked the LIV format. I think its fairer for all the players to play at the same time so weather is less of an issue. Plus as a fan, I can watch more people in a few hours in a liv event than a pga event.

Hi James ! My son is quite new to golf and went to liv golf final day, bought merch and really enjoyed it. He is also a lucky man as he also has final round tickets for the 150th open. Have to ask him how the two events compare. Also noticed on an America YouTube channel that the PGA had a number of events in China who are exactly pc on human rights!

The standard of golf was woeful. People shooting 24 over???? Absolute rubbish. Dj didn’t look interested as he has essentially won already with £100 million or do just to turn up. Players i have never heard of?? Absolute tosh and they are there purely for the money. None of them should be allowed in the majors. Shameless money grab from already very wealthy people. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

what is the return for the Saudis ?? This has nothing to do with advancing golf

I just watched a video of a Youtuber who was granted access to the record LIV action from the greens and even interacted with some of the players. That is a perspective I've NEVER before seen for pro golf, pretty cool.

Hello James and Happy Birthday Gary...really enjoy watching you guys play. I'm not a big fan of LIV Golf -- but I have a pretty negative view of the Saudi's attempts to change their public image by sponsoring the LIV series. I can't get past the human rights abuses, the 9/11 attack on the U.S. (3K+ killed) and the horrific killing of an American journalist critical of the Saudi regime (Khashoggi). But that's just me...and I certainly understand your interest in going to the first event. Glad you guys enjoyed it. All the best -- and keep up the great content.

I think what John Rahm stated best sums it up. I, however, feel as though if opportunities do present themselves, then anyone is free to choose going that route. The PGA Tour is just really rich with history.

Nothing wrong with LIV. Many sports are sponsored by Saudi companies or have events hosted there. Competition to the pga and dwp is a good thing and should be applauded

This was exhibition, where in the Saudi government is using friendly looking, western, white players for PR.
If DJ shoots a 59, he gets paid. If he shoots a 99, he gets paid. There is no consequences for playing poorly, and winning doesn't matter.
By all means get your money, just don't forget to wipe the blood off when you pick up the cheques.
