My dad is a Cranio Oral maxillofacial surgeon. This is a serious undertaking, it's not for everyone. The surgeons from this video are nice and welcoming, the ones I know are smart, funny, personable but they can be complete pricks. I gathered that you need to be a certain kind of person to enjoy removing bone parts from hips or shin to form a new jaw, or removing a 15-inch blade firmly lodged across a face. They are type-A people with zero tolerance for mediocrity and errors. You have to have insane work ethic, steady hands, calm under pressure, and work like a horse. He would tell me about some operations that would last him 10 hours. There was one that lasted 22 hours straight.

I was the youngest person, 16, to receive maxillofacial jaw reconstruction. I was the tenth case at Sinai hospital in Detroit Michigan. The surgery took 26 hours and I spent 12 hours in recovery. 10 weeks wired shut and then I could eat again. Thank you

Eventually I need Oral & Maxillofacial surgery !! Discovered almost 2 years ago through my dentist. My upper jaw is smaller then my lower jaw which causes TMJ issues currently being treated by my chiropractor. In G-D's timing right now is NOT the mother isn't well and I have a ton on me. Good information to know for the future !!!

What you do is amazing, your a true hero! If I could afford it I would come to you! I do however understand being self confident about your teeth due to a drug in the chemo family my teeth are destroyed! As a mom of 4 I just can’t afford to get my teeth fixed and even if I could afford a partial denture which I can’t the thought of having a denture at 32 years old is depressing! It’s made me incredibly depressed I’m missing out on precious time with my children because I’m just to embarrassed and ashamed to leave my house and when I do leave my house I’m sick for hours before hand panicking it controls my life! I don’t sleep much because I lay awake thinking about all the fun things I wish I could do with my kids, others may laugh at me but you just can’t possibly understand unless you’ve experienced something similar! If you have healthy teeth and a smile your proud of be thankful! Not all of us are so lucky and many of us can’t afford dental care!

Can I have sarpe surgery done to expand my palate if i am missing my first molor and tooth number 10 in the front. I am 28 year old female had previous ortho treatment that went really bad. I wore a palate expander when I was 21 and it left my pallate very uneven. I have root resorption to and will need dental implants on some teeth. In order to fix this mess I will need surgery. I am just wondering how this will be done if I am missing some teeth. How can they expand my palate if my molor is missing or can they expand it by the bone without using the tooth. I am also wondering about the dental implants to. Should i wait to after ortho to get the implants or can they put a temporary tooth theRE so I wont have a gap or just leave the gap How does that work?
