5 Amazing Facts About Earth!

Показать описание
So our planet is a cocktail of mind bending facts and figures, each more amazing than the last.
So in today's video I've hand picked 5 of the most amazing facts about earth.
Sorry for lack of uploads. I've been really sick and just couldn't find the energy to work. I am starting to get better but by no means 100%.

5) There's plenty Gold
It's estimated that mankind has mined about 181,000 tonnes of gold.
That's quite a lot but there's plenty more out there that hasn't yet been touched.
71% of the world's surface is covered in water.
So take a guess where a lot of the gold may be.
Yep deep in the oceans, In fact about 20 million tons of gold is under water.
To give you an idea of how much 20 million tons of gold is worth, its around $732 trillion.
However mining it wouldn't be easy and not cost effective, plus we've only explored less that 10% of the worlds oceans.
4) Sun Light Is Really Old
It takes the light emitted from the sun about 8 minutes and 19 seconds to reach us.
That's not that long but pretty crazy when you think about it
However even more impressive is when you go a little deeper into the sun lights past.
It actually takes about 10,000-170,000 years for a photon to travel from the core of the Sun to the surface.
So when you're out on a sunny day, and the sun light hits your face, just know that each photon could be up to 170,000 years old.
3) Gravity Changes
We often think that gravity on earth never changes, but actually it does depending where you are.
You see on the poles of earth, gravity is at its highest,
and on the equator it's at its lowest.
The different isn't much and you won't notice it, however the average person will weigh more 0.5% more on the poles.
So if you weigh 100kg or 220.4lbs on the equator, you'll weight 100.5kg or 221.5lbs on the poles.
2) Clean Water
At one point in time rain water would have been the cleanest, purest form of water.
You see our planet actually has a really sophisticated way of delivering clean water to all life below.
This process is called distillation.
The sun evaporates the water on earth, no matter how contaminated it is.
It then condenses high up in our atmosphere and falls down as clean water, leaving all contamination behind.
However since our atmosphere is no longer clean itself, the water when condensed gets contaminated again making rain water not safe to drink.
However you can apply this process to any water on earth and as long as you do it correctly the end result will be pure H20.
The absolute purest form of water.
In fact Bill Gates and his foundation have invested in a machine that creates clean water from poo.
The science behind is distillation. They essentially evaporate the water in poo, lead it to a separate container and condense it.
The outcome is clean water.
While it sounds disgusting the truth is, that water will actually contain less contaminates than your tap water.
1) Earths Orbit Is Powerful
As we all know the earth orbits the sun at about 66,600mph
That's very fast and extremely powerful.
Earth is also rotating at about 1,070mph.
So say if we wanted to stop our planet orbiting the sun, how could be achieve that?
Well the most powerful bomb we have ever detonated was the Tsar bomb.
Which produced the energy of about 50 megatons on TNT.
So to stop earth from orbiting the sun we would need about 12 quadrillion 657 trillion Tsar bombs.
In other words, it would be impossible.
