Canada’s racist model of migration control

Migrant workers’ lives are controlled in every way—they often live in cramped quarters, work long hours, are prevented from unionizing, and can be deported at any time if they speak out.

And that’s by design.

In our latest video, author and activist Harsha Walia speaks about the commodification of immigrant workers in Canada, and the system that works at every turn to cheapen their labour and reinforce their vulnerability.

Absolutely amazing seeing Harsha Walia on here. We need status for all and borders to be abolished. ✊🏽

I think we are now in a new international competition. The capitalist world and the culture of capitalism is now put in question very strongly and a lot of conflicts from capitalism are emerging like super riches billionaires who can destroy democracy and replace it by Trump world or in Canada, Ford world, etc. An other exemple is the creation of super poors on purpose to get cheap labor at home instead of relying on China, because USA is very afraid that getting cheap things from China make China richer and is becoming more powerful and rich than USA. USA is now the second place for Europe to do business. Europe is now doing more business with China than USA. Which means that USA is loosing ground slowly, where as Europe and China are gaining ground more and more. So for USA and Canada, the challenge is to get cheap labor at home and they do that by reducing security network, letting the inflation go up, reducing any kind of controles, regulations that would be good for the people in general. They try to be as close as possible to anarcho-capitalist where anything goes like Uber cutting throat to the taxi drivers, amazon cutting throat to the retale chaines, etc.

Is the Canadian immigration policies any different than that of the United States?
