There are 2 different engines choices available on the 2012 Volvo XC70. The first is a 3.2 liter inline 6-cylinder that produces 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for this engine is 19 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. The other engine choice is a more powerful turbocharged 3.0 liter 6-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is a bit lower at 17 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. But the increase in horsepower is well worth it.

When it comes to safety the XC70 is packed with the latest and greatest technology from Volvo. There are a myriad of airbags on the XC70 including side impact airbags for the driver and front passenger as well as inflatable curtain airbags for the rear occupants. A Whiplash Protection System is built into the seats as are seatbelt pre-tensioners. The 2012 Volvo XC70 comes equipped with ABS and an Emergency Brake Assist System. The Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control Systems work to keep the XC70 safely planted. When off-roading the Hill Descent Control system helps to keep the vehicle under control. The XC70 feature high ground clearance for a station wagon and most models come standard with AWD although you can opt for the FWD only system too.

The XC70 does drive heavy, like it's got a strong grip on the road. But it is very maneuverable. Some people have described it as a very nimble tank. It inspires a strong sense of safety and confidence, and it's a classic Volvo driving feel.

volvo has to be one of the best brands in terms of design and utility. I would own any of their vehicles in a heartbeat.

i'm actually surprised that he didn't mention anything about the polestar polestar package that the vehicle was equipped with. it makes the engine give more horsepower and torque

My 1999 XC70 has a full size spare where the "nooks and crannies" are in this model. Personally, I like the full sized spare instead.

Ehmm, because you can't get a D5 in the US? Btw, the XC70 looks superb.

How is it that there are no struts supporting the rear gate? Doesn't look like a very safe. sturdy arrangement. I would be nervous loading, unloading the back.

Volvo doesn't sell diesels in the USA. what are you trying to get at?

The american version is made in Belgium not in Sweden.
Regardless they are pretty good cars.

Offroad used to mean off the fucking road.  If that isn't a road, what is it?  Looks like a god damn road to me.
