A new era begins for the Boy Scouts of America

A year-and-a-half ago, the Boy Scouts of America announced that girls would be able to join its ranks. Last month, the organization even altered the programs name to accommodate the change. Carter Evans reports.

Coming from a liberal, I don’t know how I feel about this. Why not just create an entirely new blended scout troop with a blend of genders, with various activities while keeping the seperate boy and Girl Scouts...?

As a mother who has two boys, one in boy scouts and one in cub scouts, and a daughter in girl scouts, I will tell you that, when the program is run correclty, both groups do the same things...in fact, the girl scouts do more than the boy scouts. It is NOT just arts & crafts. That's a stereotype. So while they girls are supposed to be seperated in the boy scouts, when there are not enough girls they combine them with the boys (this is what is happening in my sons cub scouts troop). The boy scouts were created to help boys learn to be men and give them a safe place to be BOYS. You add girls to the mix, the dynamics change. BOYS BEHAVE DIFFERENTLY WHEN A GIRL IS AROUND. It is no longer a safe place to be a boy.

This is so stupid I and I feel stupider for watching. Time for a new organization for boys that will teach the same things I learned 50 years ago that I still use today. Girls weren't interested back then but parents were parents.
