Not to sound dramatic but I feel like learning to DJ changed my life. The past months have brought back something in me that has been missing for too long. And as a professional producer this was the step I needed to take right now.

Let us know in the comments if you wish to see me there as a guest again soon!

Hi I am so happy you are still on YT . Dont give up your on line courses. I learned a lot from you although at 73 years young I had to go over everything again and again. Never worry about making mistakes everyone makes those. Stay safe and be luckky. Regards John

I took a DJ course back in the days, because I didn't find an Ableton course I initially wanted. I thought it won't hurt me as a producer to know how a DJ thinks or hears music. Fast forward, it was totally worth it. Excited to follow your journey! 😃

I absolutely LOVE how you get into this! DJing is truly a part of you! It is wonderful to watch you get into the djing. KEEP GOING!! You make everything playful and that is what drew me to you back in the day. Thank you for all that you do!! I'm excited to see and hear you evolve as you embrace this deep part of who you are. 💜💜💜

Thanks LNA! This is inspiring, I've been thinking about this for a while - how to merge DJ with push 3 and midi instruments and do ORIGINAL music! I've been sitting on the fence for so long about whether or not to get some decks and you may have just encouraged me to do it!

DJing will make you a better producer, and producing will make you a better DJ.

I’m gutted I missed your set with Becky. You’ll just have to do more 😊

So happy for you! I have no idea how to DJ, and I keep postponing learning the basics because I am super focused in getting better as a producer.

Good on ya girl!!! Outside the box and having a blast. I have been DJing since mid-90s, well before those controllers. I like the comment below about DJing improving Production and vice versa, because I have been immersed in Ableton this year and I have the confidence because of all the listening I have done over the years. Proud of you!

I've been djing my whole life and I got to mix everyones tunes together and I am forever in debt of artists who moved me and hope to goodness I am allowed to Mix these amazing people together for as long as I am around...nothing compares to mixing all your fav tunes and the blends you can find. Thank you for all your amazing tutorials on music creation <3

Good for you! I've been watching - and learning from - your videos for a couple of years at least, and I'm really pleased to see you've added yet another string to your (violin😂) bow. I recall seeing you unbox your Push at around the same time I got mine and I've enjoyed seeing you moving forward since even before that. Good luck on this new development. One month on and the livestream shows your progress - no hilarious 'focus tongue'! 😂

This is really lovely. Coming to dance music at all pretty late, I didn't even think about DJing until, and I feel this must be a common story, I was at a party and friends started throwing tracks on. DJing gets a bad rap now (aka anyone can do it, they don't do anything) which really obscures the real reason to pick it up - it's a blast to do with friends. It also trains your ears to listen to music in a different way, finding similarities and connections you'd maybe never heard before.

I'm focusing a lot on just listening to music, arranging "journeys", and trying not to get lost in the technical aspects. But eventually/soon I'll need to branch out bc those same 3 transitions (you know the ones) do get kind of boring. But boy oh boy it's still so fun.

I absolutely love DJing! As a professional classical violinist myself, I started DJing as a hobby around 4 years ago and now I just can’t stop - it’s so much fun!!! Now starting producing as well - these two go so well hand in hand together ❤️ and I’m absolutely agreeing 100% with you - DJing is just FUN! Making people happy and dance is in the end for sure always the most enjoyable experience you can ever think of ❤️ just jealous that you already performed on a real club setup in a massive live stream already - big time congrats to you on that!!! Have fun 🔊🔥✨

Your Twitch set was very enjoyable and it was clear you were having a great deal of fun. I recently purchased the same controller and I'm looking forward to experimenting with it. I just need to get over the fear of messing up. I believe with any form of creativity, making mistakes should be embraced rather than feared. I need to work on following that mind set.

All good, Liina. But can you imagine there was a time when I was deejaying when there were real record players, CD players and cassette players as well as a simple mixer? There was nothing to manipulate songs the way that they fit each other.
Yes, I know, it's a different time now. But back in the days we wore all the stuff + all our records, CDs and cassettes with public transportation across the city. This was a wild time.
But keep on going, girl. This looked like a lot of fun for you. 😄

It always surprises me when you have producers who aren't DJs. Especially when they make music for DJs. I wouldn't get hung up on the "trust your ears" thing. Like producing, there are other people's rules for life they will try to make you live by. The best DJs have always mixed visually, even in the vinyl days when they identified sections of the track by how dense the groove is on the record. Just remember if you learn from someone else, you can also pick up there bad habits as well as the good 👍

I would assume that some of the concepts of DJing would be easier because you have awareness of tempo, keys, bars, structure, effects use and so on. My journey was the reverse, starting as a DJ then making mixes, edits, buying a sampler and a sequencer. As CHONK said in a comment, knowing one helps with the other. If you pick DJ software that has Ableton Link, you can sync your Push!
