Cycling through the heath (Hilversum, Netherlands)

[Ep. 152] Early September the heath was in full bloom in the Netherlands. This video taken on the heath near Hilversum and Laren shows how wonderful it is to cycle there.

Thank you for this video. It brings back a flood of memories. My brother and I bicycled between Huizen and Hilversum during the summer of 1963. We were staying with grandparents in Huizen and would go and visit our other grandparents in Hilversum. It was so much fun riding our bikes through the heath. Quite a trip for a 10 and 13-year-old. We almost never encountered any other cyclists.

I cycled this exact route about 10 times a year. From the city of Alkmaar to the Lage Vuursche. There and back 160Km.

Thank you for this. My mother Alida Motshagen must have cycled here also during her young wonder she was always homesick for Holland.

What is the building at the end of the video? Somehow reminds me of Tate Modern.

If I had trained this route plus others, of course, the big ride would come. The Ardennes.
Comblain au Pont, the French side. Every year for 10 years.
