This video comparison between the original and the newly restored Apollo 11 video shows Neil Armstrong making his way to the lunar surface, by climbing down the lunar module ladder.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11, NASA released partially restored video of a series of 15 memorable moments from the July 20 moonwalk. The source material for the restoration project is the best of the available broadcast-format video. Lowry Digital, Burbank, Calif., is significantly enhancing the video using the company’s proprietary software technology and other restoration techniques. The video is part of a larger restoration project that will be completed in September and provide a newly restored high definition video of the entire Apollo 11 moonwalk. The completed restoration will provide the public with the highest quality video of this historic event.

@Zeus0Moose No, YOU do not understand the Van Allen belts. The radiation there is in particles. This is FAR different from radiation in nuclear plants and such. The worst in the belt is high energy protons which are easily shielded against by the aluminum used in the ship. Dr. Van Allen HIMSELF said that they could survive the trip. So please, come up with some CORRECT evidence before telling me it's not true.

I think the original unrestored images look sharper and have better contrast.

Buzz would slap the shit out of all these "the moon landing was fake" believers.

@un4g1v3n1 He skipped a war to be a part of the most important moment in human history. Wars are stupid. Space exploration is not. If you support war over space expansion then in my opinion, you are a sad, sad being.

Science is not a set of facts. It doesn't prove or disprove gods. It is neutral. It is a process. It is the testing of ideas, to see if they "hold water". If they do, you form a theory which you then subject to further tests. If they don't, then you look for a different theory. Religion/faith is different. It is the blind acceptance of facts as presented to you by someone else. Faith is what children have, but when you become an adult you need to grow up a bit and make up your own mind.

Is it just me or quality of the "2009 Restoration" copy is even worst than it's "NASA Archive" counterpart? Missed to hide some something eh? lol

Religion is based on faith. If you believe in science alone that is also based on faith because evolution, big bang, etc. etc. are all theories. If you believe in science then fine, you believe in science (science as an explanation for everything) but I just happen to believe in God (God creating the heaven and earth, Jesus being our savior). Atheists seem to think science disproves the belief in God but it really doesn't. Peoples belief in science without God baffles me.

You say that with such certainty and yet, how would you know?
In fact, to speak so highly of something you couldn't possibly know, says alot about how deluded your sense of reality is.

I'm open to all theories, but I must ask what makes you believe in a god/creator, and more specifically, your god?
What observations have you made to convince you of your religion?
What experiments have you conducted to demonstrate your beliefs?
What reason(s), other than 'there had to be a creator', do you have for believing?

If God exists, I merely seek a greater understanding of him. It would seem unreasonable for God to punish someone who devotes their life to science/nature.

Well I think Jesus is a great basis for faith. Jesus claimed to be God and he performed these miraculous things. There are also logical reasons that could disprove many other different religions (well at least reveal their credibility). I cannot tell you all of my reasons in this little tiny text box. And if you were God would you allow someone who did not believe in you into your kingdom of heaven?
