As a college math instructor in the US, I am amazed by the way you have shared your passions, knowledge, and study tips. I started sharing your videos with some of my students who are struggling with organization and deadlines. You are a great motivator, and I believe that our world would be a better place if there were more people like you. I read Crime and Punishment in my twenties, which was about 25 years ago. it had a huge impact on my life. It is on my re-read list

I remember reading Crime and Punishment while eating in the university hall. I was so absorbed in the main character’s thoughts that when one of my friends tapped me on the shoulder to say hello, I got scared and jumped as if she were the one trying to kill me😂

I love E.M. Forster’s novels, but I first encountered his stories through the Ivory-Merchant films. I remember watching A Room with a View in my early 20s and thinking, “What is this? It feels like nothing's happening.” But when I rewatched it in my mid-20s, I saw the subtle, nuanced storytelling that I hadn’t picked up on before. His work really comes to life as you get older, and once I understood that, I couldn’t stop devouring his books. I do think you have to be in the right mindset for his stories, though. Forster is known for his keen observations, rich descriptions, and understated style, which allows for subtle character development and deep social commentary on the complexities of human relationships.

Forster’s books don’t usually have traditional story arcs. Instead, they dig into the characters’ thoughts and perceptions of their surroundings. They’re atmospheric and poetic. Once I came to terms with that, I fell in love with them.

I love it when Ruby sits down and chats with us about smart subjects. I think Dostoyevsky's morality is actually fairly unambiguous, but his characters have to go through various journeys to realize that morality. Some never do, at least by the end of the books. Also Ruby has just gotten so pretty! Her big blue eyes, rosy complexion and smile are lovely to see.

So glad you included Jude ! I'm 62 now and read this in my late teens then proceeded to read all of Hardy's work - wonderful, totally recommend x

Once I decided to read the Sandman adaptation at A2 level for the sake of learning German, and man, I didn't realize that anything in A2 could be so scary!

I didn't know that the Sandman had this dark backstory because he's a very comforting character in German television!

I love reading classics 😊. There are contemporary novels I love of course, but, classics give me something deeper, something more that I can't explain 😊

Love Forster, I feel like his books are more of a character studies. He was weirdly progerssive and open for his times I also love his outlook on culture vs nature

I love your book reviews and your insights! It helps me build my own personal TBR and I definitely am guilty of internally doing an “eye roll” with some of Classics. I appreciate your gentle push to Give these books a TRY❤ You are a complete ray of sunshine and I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for the time and effort.

My mother worked in a reha clinic for almost 20 years and once had a patient who lost all of her memory due to electro shock therapy. It is literally so horrible that this was considered a legitable treatment.

Antigone is also one of my faves. Sophocles is incredible.

I love the empathetic description of the killing of that poor pig in Jude the Obscure. And when Jude, at the end of the book, thinks back to its death. Hardy was really sensitive!

I love EM Forster. My favourite is A Passage To India it has a great story for those who have a problem with Forster's lack of plot.
