Lo-Fi Hip Hop had a really big upswing in popularity in recent years. It is such a chill type of genre which makes it very meditative to produce. Today, we look at what makes a lo-fi beat shine, and then I will challenge myself to make a lo-fi track within one hour and try to give you a lot of insights into how to do it. Enjoy!

What a great tutorial, thank you very much! And thanks for the advise of not focusing too much on details when choosing a sound and rather keeping the momentum going, that’s exactly what I’m so often preoccupied with unnecessarily. 🙏

Nice, lo-fi appears to be for Kids today what trip hop was for us in the 90ies.

Nicely done! I've been producing for over 20 years and often come up with trap and West Coast beats organically, but have been trying to get into some lofi and boom-bap production. Very helpful video, and you just earned a sub!

I absolutely love this kind of videos, showing how a music was made, see all the song mixing together and the final reveal at the end... And with on of my favorite type of music, great job man

An underutilized technique is to take the lead sound and reverse it for the intro. Not the whole thing, but it really makes the lead into a song more interesting and most people won't notice that it's just a reversed piece. For the people that don't want to spend money on RC20, if you have Max for Live you can use Pocket Color 2 instead, it's an amazing plugin.

Pretty dope dude I produce psytrance for a long time now and it's refreshing to go from 145+ bpm to chilled vibed mode like lofi. I'm gonna give it a shot with a little bit of psychedelic world that I'm familiar with already.. thanks great video and chillaxed track I love it man keep up the good work!
