This is not the image retention issue that some has reported with IOS 17, and the updated software did not make it go away.

You know who perfected this...Androids

Samsung and most androids have a very intelligent yet simple solution for this. The text/widgets on AOD keep shifting their pixels periodically so that OLED pixels don't burn in due to prolongated display or same RGB spectrum. And the pixel shift is for such a small degree that most of the times you wont even notice.

And that's why we have those trippy idle animation on Windows back in the day. Apparently, they were not only there to waste your time, they were there to help save your screens from burn-in, hence, they were called "Screen Savers".

pro tip is to turn on low battery mode and dnd when sleeping so your AoD is not on all night!

This is why I love androids AOD specifically Samsungs. It is simple and dark. Anything past that is iPhone trying to play catch up and failing.

My wife’s name is permanently burned onto one of my old phones because I used to text her all the freaking time before we got married

You won't get burn in if there's a bouncing DVD logo style AOD 😂

This is where Samsung is far ahead. They move the AOD clock in every lock/unlock to prevent screen burn.

Not surprising at all, there's a reason aod should be kept simple like on androids. Even with simple aod my lg v40 still has burn in issue, but it's not noticeable except in low light situations. Both iphone and android needs more dynamic aod options to combat this problem (i know dynamic aod exists but there are still very little choices afaik)

I really don't get the point of AOD. I put my phone in sleep mode because I don't need it anymore. Why would it just glow continuously

I had a Samsung s20 plus it had exactly the same problem. But of course only when iPhone has the same problem everyone hates

Just use photo shuffle, choose some photos, and set it to lock so each time you turn on your phone it changes

Reduce white Point is also a setting apple left on from the factory. It basically reduces harsh colors. You can make it adjustable. I only know this because when I got my 14 pro max and would try to show people things they could barely see the display even though full brightness was already on.

I assume it’s another setting to help reduce screen burn in.

I would have thought the AOD would move around to reduce the chance of this happening. My Samsung does and after 5 years, zero burn-in

My Samsung AOD just sometimes decides to move the clock and stuff around fairly far from their original spot to make sure its necer on the same spot too often

First thing I did was turn off AOD, it’s unnecessary

I personally don't use AOD to full use lile I have it on but only when I tap tje display once to check for notifications and that's it, spare me the burn in.

Device: Samsung

Pro tip: Don’t leave your phone that you spent 1500$ on for 1 year on AOD

I had three samsung flagships and they all had screen burn ins after a year each. Idk why folk say it doesn’t happen to samsung phones too.
