Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt Wartburg

I went to the Christmas market in this 1000-year-old German castle called Wartburg in Eisenach, Germany, where Martin Luther famously translated the bible in to German.

I hope that you're doing well and staying safe.

Trying to get into the Christmas mood right now, and decided to give your video a chance to get it started for me. Yet again a fun watch with your videography. The hike was wonderful and look forward to your next Christmas present video

I know I’m a bit late, but Martin Luther was actually declared an outlaw, meaning that you could basically kill him without being punished for it so one of his more wealthy friends kidnapped him, gave him a new identity and hid him in this castle for a good year. I’m not exactly sure about this story because I’m only doing this from memory but it’s fun to read up on it.

We had our annual month-long Christmas Market here in Florence in Piazza Santa Croce. It was wonderful as usual, and packed from beginning to end.

It looked magical with that frozen mist covering the landscape. It has to be the most scenic Christmas market.

The Wartburg was also home to another famous person. Die Heilige Elisabeth, also a very interesting story and rather sad.

Really love your videos, Tom! I grew up in Norway and Germany but I live in New Zealand now. I really miss those German winter markets a lot (and trains/public transport haha). Have you ever been to the Ore mountains? They are really lovely during Christmas time as well :).

My Hometown! Unfortunately theres a lot of social and economic problems, thats why I left 15 years ago... the castle is a stunning place though, we received our high school diplomas up there. Quite an experience...

How did you get that page to magically turn in the book on Martin Luther’s desk? 🥷🏻😲
