The more I watch this movie over time… the darker it gets thinking about the other people who’re closest to Truman… when did he and his wife ever have sex and was she just faking it as the screen would likely cut to commercial? his “best friend” has been there his whole life but this is still just a gig to him?… the people close to Truman would have to be highly manipulative psychopaths for this show to work. And these actors could never wander too far off set and are in their own way trapped by Truman’s compulsions to see them. They likely hate him deep down inside and take sadistic pleasure in manipulating his emotions and being a famous TV Star for it.
