Awesome to see. I served on the USS Lasalle LPD-3 in 1966, when we recovered an Unmanned Gemini capsule in the South Atlantic. And, we were the 1ST navy ship Ever, to take the capsule back to Canaveral/Kennedy. Even managed to cross the Equator for the first time, and became a Shellback. Anyone out there today know what that meant? Other than navy people.

Cheers when it hit the water?  Don't mean to curb your enthusiasm, well maybe I do...  Ahhh what did you expect it to do.  float off again someplace?

Sad when you realize that the recovery vessel is much more advanced then the Naval vessels that recovered Mercury, Gemini and Apollo while Orion is the same as the Apollo capsule of the 60's and 70's. Good job NASA in taking this country back to the 70's in manned space flight.

What kept the capsule from sinking when it landed in the ocean? I did not see any flotation material around the bottom. One would think that something that heavy would sink.

Take a look at the dragon v2 crew vs the cts-100 Orion and you tell me which is the superior, more advance and reusable spacecraft? Not to mention dragon is less expensive and far more capable than Apoll oh I mean Orion.

There are secret space programs that have space craft that can travel to mars in less than 30 hours!
