When you see soldiers marching home with relaxed faces.
When kids starts running and hugging them for no reason.
When people offering a drink, wine, and bread with smiles.
When you heard a woman shouted, "My husband is over there!"

You say it with your inner voice...
"The war... Is over."

That flute, that damn flute is what makes me love this theme, it captures the peace and beauty of Europe when they're actually not batshit insane all the time with conflicts.

This isn't a song to represent victory for any specific side in a war, this is a song to represent mankind as a wholes victory in learning to work together to secure a safe and peaceful world for itself.

It does appear however we still have a bit of a way to go.

My great-grandfather was a World War Two veteran. He served with the US army in Italy and France. 3rd Army in Italy. 36 infantry division during his French tour. He won two purple hearts and a Legion of Merit Medal, all still in pristine condition today. He rose through the ranks to become a US Army Captain of the 42nd infantry regiment. He was a seasoned veteran, joining the US Coast Guard in 1940. He was quite the soldier, always wanting to keep moving forward. Unfortunately, he left behind a 21-month old daughter that he would never see, alongside his widow. He fell in combat in 1944, a mere week before Christmas day. His name was Frank Strader, and somewhere in France, his grave remains still.

Someday, I will be there to honor his legacy.

That glorious theme for when the brave Luxemburg troops finally take Moscow and Washington.

my favorite song in hoi4. When this song plays I'm like "screw the war" so I pause and just listen to the song.

Dmitri we have won. Why do you not smile?

I had eight brothers at Moscow, six at Stalingrad, one at Kursk. They died for every mile.

Where is your brother now, Dmitri?

Over there, in the pile.

This song describes the feeling of the end of the war so well. My grandpa confirmed it.

How it feels to disband your army after you have annexed the whole world.

"For us, the storm has passed... the war is over. But let us never forget those who journeyed into the howling dark and did not return. For their decision required courage beyond measure; sacrifice, and unshakable conviction that their fight... our fight, was elsewhere. As we start to rebuild, this hillside will remain barren, a memorial to heroes fallen. They ennobled all of us, and they shall not be forgotten."

I love this song, it's cautiously triumphant as if to say "yes we won, but at what cost". It perfectly encapsulates the heroism and tragedy of war and really makes you respect the sacrifice previous generations made for us to live free and in peace. Just a beautiful piece of music.

This plays in my head in June when I know there are less than 23 days of school left. All this struggle will be gone for a long time.

I had a game where the Commies had lost basically and the Allies were about to lose Spain/Uk then, out of no where the USA staged a coup in Germany, landed in Norway, and forced the Nazi's to turn back but it was too late. With a little internal work and a renewed war on both front they fell within a year. This song kept looping for whatever reason. Beautiful.

My great grandfather was a WW2 soldier serving in the romanian army. He fought in Odessa, and lots of more bloody battles, and came back home alive and whole. I just imagine the hapiness of his wife and kids. He survived the war, and lived to die another day.
