2K19 (EP 44) Interstate 70 Across the Rocky Mountains in Colorado

I-70 Colorado. Many trips taken on it for decades. Remember when the Eisenhower Tunnel(s) were completed. Remember seeing overheated cars pulled over in the early years. The only way to travel through Colorado if you’re in a hurry to get to another state. Those sharp dirt inclines off to right are for 18-wheelers that have lost their brakes and can’t stop. And just as I type this the video explains that, ha. Other vehicles have needed to use them as well. The tunnels were named to honor President Dwight D. Eisenhower who pushed the Interstate system nationally and granted Federal funds to States to support it. Last time I checked the Interstate system has yet to be completed in some eastern States.

This route has been on our bucket list for YEARS (I wanted to drive the tunnel). Reviewing your video before we went showed us the scenery. We found it so spectacular your video just doesn't come close. Now that we are back your Video was a terrific travelogue of our excursion form Denver through the tunnel and return. I traveled the Western section this past summer from near Grand Junction. Definitely going back in 2025! I’m going to try to plan my route to incorporate all of I-70!

Brings back memories I lived in Leadville until 1996, I can still recall trying to get over to Denver one year in a major blizzard what a mess. Summer is nice but the winter is something else.
