I review the Fluval U4 internal filter. This is a fantastic and very quiet filter for tanks up to 65 gallons. The u4 pumps out up to 260 GPH and has 3 different flow modes. The flow rate is somewhat adjustable as well. Thanks for watching:)

I don't think you should clean your filter pads in fresh water like that, it kills all the good bacteria from what I've heard.

Just want to warn anyone that has young or small fish about the Venturi opening on top of these filters. If you are not using the Venturi option then please put the little attachment on regardless, if it’s under the water it won’t make the bubbles. I didn’t have the attachment on my U4 and I have just found one of my little Corydora who was only about half an inch sucked on to the opening, the suction is very weak but for a tiny fish it was fatal. I only got them this Tuesday and I am so upset and feel so guilty.

OMG, your cleaning you filter with tap water, well there go's the good bacteria. #2 you could be washing the sponges in a bucket of tank water & using the water to water plants outside.

Hi! Why did the manufacturer change the design of the cartridges? What was their goal? The holes are made only for half of the cartridge. It's inefficient. In older versions, the holes were all over the cartridge area.

Hi! I have the Fluval U4 filter right now and I find it kinda noisy. Whenever I change the mode, it does not seem to the flow that it was supposed to be set to be. Which flow do you think is the quietest flow and do you know how to reduce the noise for the Fluval U4 filter as my turtle tank is right beside my bed.

Hi there quick question does it need to be fully submerged? I'm concerned I won't be getting air into the tank

You don’t want to be killing all the bio bacteria, so I’ll clean it under the tap !! Big mistake....👎

It looks like a good filter. How is it with guppy fry? I use a sponge filter to avoid killing them, but it's pretty old & I'm thinking of getting a new one. How is it price-wise?

You should never ever, ever clean your filter with tap water. Half fill a bucket with your aquarium water and clean your sponges and bio media in that. That way any good bacteria which is essential for a healthy tank will not be destroyed or killed off. It takes 4 to 6 weeks for the growth of beneficial bacteria to complete the nitrogen cycle. Useing tap water which contains chlorine will kill of any bacteria good or bad. Then and only then can you use tap water to to up your tank and if you want too, dechlorinate it first.

Very weak flow
269 gph
Maybe for guppies or cories
Those cheap Chinese internal filters beat any competition of any “reputable” brands.

Please guys do not wash you biomax rings like that tap water contains huge ammounts of chemicals that will kill off bacteria that you need plus the sponges clean them in water from the tank a certanly do not scrub the black carbon pads like that

You are definitely wrong about cleaning that out with tap water bud. Just a tip for ya.

Total rookie! One of the golden rules of fish keeping is that you NEVER rinse out your filter media in tap water! You're essentially washing away all the good bacteria that helps break down harmful Ammonia and Nitrates. How can he not know this?!?

I’ve got the fluval u4 but I normally don’t clean the medias the one in the middle just to keep the beneficial bacteria in it but i do wash the pads on both sides with cold water.
