Charles II seemed to be the original George Foreman for naming most of his sons after himself.

And due to Charles 2 and many other kings in Europe, most native Europeans are probably related to a royalty in one way or another lol

The much maligned king . Forgotten is the fact that while he was busy enjoying himself, he was shaping what would become the 13 colonies cross the pond.
Charles ll was responsible for adding the Carolinas, Pennsylvania ( gave the land to Admiral William Penn's son, William as a way to pay off a debt he owed him, ), New York, Delaware and New Jersey .
He played an important role in US history 🤘

I have always found the history around the Restoration Period to be particularly fascinating, I would like to see more in depth videos about some of the children of Charles II and other characters from that time :)

Superb precis as always, and a great reminder that the modern concept of marital fidelity is only about 300 years old. In Jacobean times there were no such notions.

Excellent as always, you have the gift of being able to present quite complex information in a very clear and interesting way. More of these history videos would be great!

nell gywn was my 8x great grandmother. i used to own a ring supposedly given by charles, i had two stones replaced in it and the techniques used to make it were from the late 1600's according to the jewler. we did have lots of high end things from the 1700's among the wider family, including silverwear cutlery and two other pices of jewlery. my great grandmother had two maids and a massive house which is now 2 shops and 7 housed, she had 19 children so there was not much left and i was given the ring

People want to know how most of us Europeans are related to royalty. This is why lol. It's not pretty but it's true.

Thanks FL for enlighting us In the numerous children of this prolific king. Incredible how he kept track of all his children and how he provided for all his mistresses. He seemed very irresponsible and incredible to believe his own wife couldn't give him a legitimate heir. A very fascinating case.

Thanks, very interesting and helpful. My Mum was working on our family genealogy and got very interested when she discovered we're related to King Charles 11 through his illegitimate daughter Charlotte Fitzroy Lee. Mary Davy the first female Dr. of Music also decends from one of Charlottes sons.
