1960's Case Pocket Knife Restoration (Broken Back-spring)

I purchased this broken 1960's case xx stock-man at an antique store for $3.00. I disassembled it and and made a new back spring for the main blade out of an old table saw blade, creating a single blade pocket knife.

The song "Fear of Tornadoes" is by some local friends and artists: Dalton Mills and Grayson Woods. Their band is"Pittsburgh of the South". check them out at:

Thanks for watching, I'm going to start filming projects like this, so subscribe for future videos, and let me know what you think.

I have a British army locking two blade jack knife that needs a new back spring, after watching this it has given me the confidence to have a go at repairing it now.

Great job - I like how you repaired the knife. Too many people just throw away broken tools and knives etc, especially young people in today’s generation of expendable goods. It’s great to see a vintage knife repaired and restored back to working condition. The knife will easily last for another 40 / 50 years - Good job

I'm impressed by your problem solving, and resourcefulness. You brought a classic back to life. I very much enjoyed this video and in no way is this a knock, but I would love to see complementary video that's less edited/longer with text or audio in "how to" fashion. Having said that, keep doing what you're doing. You're off to a great start.

Huh, I was initially skeptical, but it turned out great! A lot of niche, tucked away DIY videos like this are the make over the break for many people just trying to fix any old particular tool or appliance and survive between checks. Thanks for showing everyone!

Very nice job! It's easier than people think, if you just set out to do It! A few tools and materials and just a little common sense can get you far! Nice video, nice knife!

Great job on a Great knife!. I have a Remington with a broke spring myself but I can't find anyone that can fix it.

I was impressed that you were able to correct the defect in the knife with a minimal amount of effort and with simple and inexpensive tools. I'm glad you sped up the video because it's often unpleasant to sit through too much time wasting excruciating detail.

Not a bad video given the short length and no narration. I'm an axe guy but I'm looking to restore a few broken jack knives (what we called them back when I was a kid) and i found your video usefull.

you sir should be making custom knives, not restoring: you're a master

Impressed by your ingenuity and work; nice set of tools, too. For me, I reckon I'm consigned to buying pocket knives without a broken spring; I lack the tools, the skills and the energy to do what you did :-))

Great job I hope you make a detailed instructional video someday. I want to try fix a couple of knives.

A voice-over or captions would sure be helpful to those of us who really would like to learn what you are doing. I can listen to country music any day.

Thank you for speeding up the video to the point of making it worthless to someone who is trying to learn what is involved
