I remember this so well. It’s the same music as when it was aired in the 60’s. My mother and I (we were the movie addicts in the family) would sit in front of the TV anxious for it to tell us what the film would be. The most memorable were….”The Diary of Anne Frank”, “How to Marry a Millionaire”, “Ben Hur”, “The Enemy Below”, “Heaven Knows Mr. Allison”, “An Affair to Remember”, “With a Song in my Heart”, to name a few. Just a great Saturday Night.

Reminds me of when being allowed to stay up "late" was a big deal. Thank you.

That opening is nostalgic. It reminds me of old style theatres. Saturday Night At The Movies should come back to life. Network movies were great.

I can't believe we put up with waiting years and years to see a movie on tv back then. I seem to remember that 7 years was about the average wait time.

There was an earlier version of this opening from the early to mid 1960s. That's the one I want to hear again.

That Don Rickles was a radio announcer during the days of Old Time Radio Shows. When some of those old shows are run on regular radio the modern announcer always mentions, "no, that's not the insult comedian."

Finally, a rare opening of "NBC Saturday Night at the Movies" from 1972, preceded by the famed "living color on NBC" spiel done by
Mel Brandt.

I remember the bumper in the 60s used to have a drum roll played on tympani and have movie film rotating in the back behind the title.

Now if this could be done in black and white for us really old geezers. I remember this 1966-67.

NBC Saturday Night at the Movies premiered in 1961 w/a different color opening consisting of colored panels. An earlier color peacock open started the show.

Wow! I've been looking for this for years, but had no idea what TV show it was from; I just remembered the flashing lights, and stumbled upon it by accident. I was only four, but it's just as I remembered. Thanks so much!

I'm not sure, but I seem to have a fond memory of watching It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World on Saturday Night at the Movies around the mid 1970s.
