We perform our official InsideEVs 70 MPH highway range test on the 2022 Kia EV6 GT Line AWD.

Equipped with a 77.4 kilowatt-hour battery pack, the EPA rates this version of the EV6 at 274 miles. Our test car with its larger 20-inch wheels would fall shy of that marker. Watch the full video to see how far our editor Tom Moloughney went on the highway.

I have EV6 RWD, heatpump, and 19” wheels. Currently getting around 300 miles on a motorway run in UK summer temps, driving in normal mode with ac. About 350 miles around town.

I drove 175 highway miles today. Set cruise control at 70 mph and mostly drafted 18 wheelers so more like a 65 mph. Little wind and 90 degrees and no rain. I have a RWD Wind. Averaged 4.4 miles per kWh resulting in 340 miles of extrapolated range. Eco mode. Very happy and the best highway results so far. I really think the drafting of the 18 wheelers is what did it.

Tom....you are by far one of my favorite EV Presenters along with Dave Conner. I like the way both of you do your presentations. Dave and you are very positive EV Presenters. Keep up the great work....you both are awesome

The 20 inche wheels are standard on the GT Line AWD. All other models have 19s. Very good video. I love that I can compare this range to other cars that you test in the warm. And since the EPA tests are done at a lower speed, this car performed well.

love my EV6's. i am lucky enough to have a Wind w/tech package and a GT line. the Wind is definitely more efficient. 230 miles is about max for me in the GT, but i can get 250 plus in the Wind. And they sure do get looks on the road.

Not enough range for me. I drove 240 miles for work yesterday and that is not unusual. Rural areas lack the charger support. I’m going to wait to buy an EV until cars like this get to at least 400 miles. Not to mention the ridiculous markup over MSRP that my local dealer is charging($6000)

I love my EV6 Light (58 kWh) RWD. At 70 mph I get about 189 miles (or 3.5 mi/kWh) of range. In practice I rarely make hops between chargers longer than 150 miles if I can help it. If cruising on our fine interstate system and EA stations are spaced out 90-130 miles as is the case in and around the Midwest, Northeast and Mid South where I drive, it’s a joy to cruise comfortably with traffic (wink wink), arrive at 10% SOC and quickly charge to 60-80% SOC depending on what the car and ABRP think I’ll need in order to jump to the next stop an hour and a half down the road.

Hey Tom - great range test, as always, fella...!
Lovin' your work.
Yes, I'm not surprised the Model Y owner was ogling the EV6 - it's a storming success here in the UK.
It's just odd, in my opinion, that this purpose-built, ground-up EGMP platform only puts out 'mediocre' miles/kWh figures - compared, for example, to the old, multi-drivetrain Kia E-Niro for example, which would regularly see late 4's / early 5's for miles/kWh...??? 🤔

Amazing range for the GT AWD.... nice!

Thanks for the test! So it looks like there is about a 5% to 10% difference between this and the RWD Wind I tested. More ideal conditions but slightly faster driving speeds was tracking toward 270 to 280 miles.

Tom, that's not a launch edition ("First Edition") EV6. Those cars have mono-color interiors, a stick-on plastic "First Edition" badge on the center console, come in three unique exterior colors, and have the same exterior styling as the Wind. Your car is a true GT-Line. Love your videos, by the way.

Good stuff, as usual. Charging test coming on your channel?

My wind AWD will pretty easily hit 300 miles if i drive 60mph. 70mph, 250-260. i'm completely satisfied with that range, considering its pretty close to mustang mach e LR with a 100kwh battery. My lifetime average consumption is 3.5 mi/kwh.

I have a gtline rwd average over 280 with 90/10 freeway driving and averaging 65 or so (slower highway) until I hit traffic which in california is consistent.

I have a EV6 First Edition. It will tell you if it a fe in the center by the number badge. That being said real world driving been getting 295miles to 318 miles on a full charge for my work week. Which is about a little over 50 miles a day

Would be nice to see you do a 70mph range test with the Tesla Model 3 Performance as well.

Rating 274 miles, 105 combined, 94 highway so doing the maths, highway range rating would be 245 miles which coincidentally is exactly what you got!
