A Transfagarasan Road Trip - An awesome daytrip from Bucharest, Sibiu or Brasov. The Transfagarasan was the brainchild of the communist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu who had it built (at great human cost) to act as a military access road fearing Russian Invasion. The road is just 90km of twists and turns and stunning vistas. There are plenty of roadside places to stop safely and take photos or rest. When you're in the pass, you won't be able to go much faster than about 40kph (about 25mph) - it's cheap to rent a car, and you can have it back the same day!
