How Nebula’s Makeup Tells Part of Rocket’s Backstory in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Nebula was modified and tortured through experimental upgrades. Rocket can connect the most with her and understand what she feels. He wanted to help her, and he did, showing her care that she never recieved from her father.

That would explain the gold plate she had on her face after the 5-year time jump in Endgame.😲 Rocket made it for her as a reminding symbol that Thanos is gone, and she can have her own self shine.

It just occurred to me that Nebula is an example of a strong female character done right. They didn’t go around saying hey this is gonna be a strong female character, they just made a character that was relatable, had a tragic backstory that people could empathize with, had their own beliefs and motivations, and had a satisfying character arc where they learned and grew. I guess this is just an extension of the “show, don’t tell” principle. If you want to make a strong female character, don’t talk about it, just do it.

They understand each other due to the torture they each suffered and endured. When seeing what Rocket suffered at the hands of the High Evo, Nebula states, "This is worse than what Thanos did to me." Dang, that hits you.

Nebula went from being a secondary villain in vol 1 that was only a foil to Gamora to being one of the most beloved guardians.

She has easily had the best character arc in the entire MCU. I legit cried when I saw her reaction to hearing that Rocket was ok. Nebula has grown so much from her just being another villian in Guardians 1.

Yeah. Seeing Nebula cry when she heard Rocket's voice almost broke me. Such a great scene.

I wish they physically showed it through a small scene maybe in the background of Rocket working on parts of Nebula. Not everyone is gonna get that important character development and get to interview makeup artists

I wish they would release some type of series or comics of events that took place post-snap. Rocket and Nebula's growing friendship, Clint's descent into despair and rage, Cap trying to make things better while attending those therapy groups, Banner becoming smart hulk, etc.

There are juicy stories waiting there.

Love that he called her Nebs and that he did all of those modifications for her. Didn’t caught the eye thing!

I do have to say though that when Rocket wakes up and asks where is Nebula, it’s actually because he is seeing that her comm is coming through…so he’s literally asking like where is she, like yo she is calling us (I’m not saying they don’t have a special relationship but that moment was specific to that). When Nebula hears Rocket is alive and breaks up and cries…so heartwarming …man, they’ve been through SO MUCH.

Rocket and Nebula's friendship is just adorable. Really wish we could have seen more of it.

When Nebula started crying in that moment, so did I because it made me realize that she's developed beyond what she even had with her sister Gamora & the rest of the crew - the bond she as developed with Rocket really was special & what our narrator here, is pointing out; also occured to me at the time ( great with that btw - great video 👍) .

This was just an emotional Roller-coaster of a movie, I'm actually glad there are others that love this stuff as much as I do

Whenever i see clips of Endgame, i always get so sad seeing Rocket go out to the ship and only seeing Nebula come out. He lost pretty much everyone

Something that just makes me feel even worse for rocket and what he went through is that when the guardians see what happend to rocket and nebula the one person who can relate to an ounce of what pain rocket went through says said it was worse than what thanos ever did to her

Can I just say I love the duo's in the Guardians. Nebula and rocket, Peter and Mantis, Drax and Mantis, Peter and Nebula. It makes the team feel realistic and also makes the bond stronger
