Irresistible Grace

The Reformed doctrine of God's sovereign grace is one of the most beautiful in all of Scripture. The fact that the just, holy and perfect God in His grace and mercy bestows a new heart of flesh and the Holy Spirit upon rebel sinners who hate him is unfathomable. In this video, I summarize some of Dr. James White and Dr. R.C. Sproul's thoughts on irresistible grace.

I definitely prefer the term effectual grace. While I agree with the doctrine of irresistible grace, the name confuses a lot of people.

Faith has to be God's gift to the saved because Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of their faith, therefore it must come from Him. I believed God's word is truth even before I knew what I was going to learn from it. I believed Jesus Christ is the Truth even before I knew anything about the meaning, purpose and power of the cross. I was irresistibly drawn to Christ even before I learnt and understood what He is about.

Difficult subject. The scriptures seem to lead there. A few make me wonder though. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9?

I like your channel, and I listened. Two points.

The first, there is a critical flaw in your reasoning about those you labeled "synergistic". It's a straw man to use it in most cases except for a few cults.

The second, irresistible grace still contradicts the text where God is specifically speaking.

I know that these are short videos, and you may have wished to expound further. I still reject a fully orbed Calvanism as thoroughly unbiblical. Proof texting is not hermeneutics, harmonization is.

"Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God". His point was to get born again!! He wasn't trying to teach a foreign doctrine that even Calvin said wasn't taught until 400 years later by Augustine. This is sad and a dangerous twisted theology
